Wow, the front office must have really liked Otah to give up a 2nd, 4th and next years 1st for the 19th overall pick.
Essentially, what it is, is they gave up a 2nd and 4th to move up into the 1st a year early.
I feel pretty safe in saying that we'll be back in the 1st round next year... lets hope the Eagles get a really low 1st rounder out of this next year.
It's also pretty obvious what we plan to do next year now. Jeff Otah will start at a tackle spot. Probably right tackle where Gross will anchor the left... unless Otah shows up as a beast in training camp (lets hope so) and takes the left tackle spot. If he does, our offensive line will be very impressive. We'll be splitting carries between Williams and Stewart. Williams will get the majority of the carries and Stewart will be our power back. Behind an impressive and new offensive line.... this could yield one of the best running games in the league. With the addition of WRs Muhammad and Hackett, the passing game could step up as well... and the running game will open it up even more.
The Panthers have two 3rds, a 5th and the 7th round selections left.
Watch what they do here.... those 2 3rds could be used as leverage if somebody unexpectedly falls into the 2nd. Sam Baker was just selected by Atlanta, but Otah took that need off of our board. Kenny Phillips has not been selected yet and Brohm is dropping like a rock.... although I seriously doubt he makes it past SF with the 29th pick.
More than likely, I see the Panthers trying to pick up safety and/or DT.
I'm guessing that DE will go unaddressed in this draft.
They must feel strongly about the Stanley McClover, Charles Johnson, Tyler Brayton group.
