All i have been hearing from everyone about our out of conference schedule is Boise St. this and BSU that. Ok, i understand that Boise has had a bunch of success of the last few seasons and I for one have enjoyed it as a college football fan. (That one was for you Spaded ;-)) But not a single person is talking about a MAJOR CONFERENCE (sorry Boise) opp. we have in Purdue. Im over there right now trying to get info from these fools, and none and i mean NONE of them seem to think they are any good. So its not to much fun over on Boiler nation board i can tell ya that.

What do you guys think?

Their QB is pretty good, they run a version of the spread offense and are good at it.  They won their bowl game last year.  Just remember a few years ago when Indiana came in to Autzen, we cannot let a repeat performance of that.  I look for an entertaining game with lots of offense.

I'm pumped about this game with your ducks. I've always enjoyed watching Oregon Football (when we can get a chance to catch it on tv in the midwest/south east), as your offense is always something special.  Also excited that Jonathan Stewart is here in charlotte...hopefully he can help fix these broke Panthers.  Anyways, you've caught most Purdue fans in the midst of a semi-depression.  Since the arrival of Coach Joe Tiller in 1998, Purdue has enjoyed tremendous success. (10 bowl games, 1 Rose bowl with Drew Brees.)  However, the BIg Ten has finally learned how to deal with our spread, we continually choke in games that matter, and we come off looking half ass and poseurs.  That said, we've had, and continue to develop, NFL talent, particuarly on defense(Ends).   But Purdue always seems to discourage national attention because of our choke-itis in big games.

Curtis Painter is our latest huge numbers quaterback.  Senior, cannon arm, but questionable decision making.  Hopefully that will change this year.  Our two running backs are capable, but our play calling seems to be overly repetitive when it comes to the run game.  Our O-line is very big, and is always well coached, but seems not to have met our expectations here at Purdue.  Our biggest concern offensively this year is our wide receivers.  We lost the best big ten in the nation (dustin keller), and one of the big ten's most prolific wr's in Dorien Bryant.  We usually just reload with no-name guys who fit nicely into our scheme and then produce.

Defensively is a big question mark.  Purdue has never had a huge, Ohio State-like D-line.  However, we have always had NFL quality D-ends. (Roosevelt Colvin, Chike Okefor, Ray Edwards, Anthony Spencer, Cliff Avril, etc.)  We do not have those ends this year, although we do have some young talent.  Overall I see our biggest problem as the secondary.  We tended to get torched last year when we couldn't afford it.  See Central Michigan putting up 40+ points on us in our bowl game....

All in all, Purdue is decent this year...but questionable.  Like I said, Purdue fans are tired of being mediocre.  It's getting old.  Finishing fourth in the big ten every year is starting to piss everyone off!  LOL, so therefore I am predicting a fourth place finish again!  Behind Ohio State, Wisconsinn, Michigan......

Can't wait for this game though, and your crazy ass Duck uniforms in Ross-Ade Stadium!  I will be there either elated and joyous, or depressed and weeping.  Good luck to the Ducks this year, and for the love of all that is right, beat the shit out of USC.  Hate those assholes at sc.  Peace

I think this might be the best non-conference game on the DUCKS schedule this season. Purdue is in the Big-10, which is a BCS conference and the one that sends a team to the Rose Bowl, against the #1 Pac-10 team.

Everyone will most definitely be jumping out of their pants once Sept. 13 actually rolls around and the game is played in front a national audience on ABC. The Ducks should be 2-0 by then, with the two opening games at home, against U-Dub and Utah State. At the same time, Purdue only has one game before they host the Ducks and that game is against lowly Northern Colorado, which is a school not in the NCAA-bowl division ranks and is part of the Big Sky Conference!

A 3-0 start would give the young Ducks team the confidence they need to succeed for the ENTIRE season. I'm getting kind of tired seeing some Nov. meltdowns and think this is the year for change. If the team can just get through the bumps on the road, in the middle of the schedule, the team should be able to win ALL of the games in the month of Nov., against some of the weaker teams in the conference!

Sept. 13 will be an important date for Ducks and Boilermaker fans because it'll be an early test for both teams and a strong momentum booster for the winning team!

GO DUCKS!!!
