Great Game last night for the old man
Maybe he won't break his hip on the way to the dugout after all
one thing about Mike Mussina is we can not come down on him so hard if he has a bad outing every single time he is a big time mental marshmellow. I mean the guy graduated from Stanford in 3 years, and when the Yankees went to Japan a few seasons ago he did not leave his Hotel room and at Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches the whole trip. That right there tells me the guy is a little bit of a wierdo. So he is very sensitive about all the heat he has recived in the media (not saying it is undeserved)
he did win 18 games 2 years ago.....when he had a little more stank on that fastball
in my opinion he will win 11 games this year, but he is going to need run support
right now you have to figure he is a Wakefield type guy. Only in the fact that he will most likely have a .500 record at the end of the season and soem games he will pitch well and others he is going to get shelled. I know you have a 5 man rotation but i would like to see them pick and choose who he starts against a little better like a prize fighter. That would be a little easier if we did nto have to coddle 2 rookie pitchers as well. But 2 of his 3 losses were to the Red Socks who have been hitting pretty well so far. and the opposing pitcher was Beckett. I am as big of a Yankee fan as there is but when i looked at those games I rooted for my team on every pitch but I almost counted those games as losses before the game was played.
So everyone relax it is still just April
The Yankees get there team going later because we expect to be playing later on in the season. that is why when the Sox and the rest of the team slows down after the All Star break we will just be hitting stride

Hey i hear Osswalt is unhappy and looking to be moved
i think he would be a guy who could easily convert to the AL with ease
If he is Avalable do not be supprised to see him in Pinstripes late this season

Moose did look great last night. 11 wins is a decent estimate, however I don't know if he'll get that chance. I think the Yankees are going to ride out the growing pains from Hughes and Kennedy, and when Joba is ready to start, I think Mussina will be the one replaced. Mussina is still a major liability, and the fans/Hank have a short leash. He's 39, and a free-agent after this year, so I don't think the Yankees will have any qualms with removing him as a starter if needed.
As far as Oswalt, I don't think he will be moved. He just signed a long term contract that won't end until 2012, and he's the only starter worth having on that team. He's always been rumored to be traded, but doing so makes no sense.
The Yankees will probably stay the way they are past the deadline. The only players I see them moving is Damon or Matsui, maybe for a relief pitcher.
However when the off-season comes around, hello C.C. and Teixera!

Moose was very impressive last night. It's just scary to know that he has to be perfect, and get the calls on the corners, like he was most of last night, to be successful. Otherwise, the Yanks are going to have to put up 6+ runs every time he pitches, which is possible, now that the offense seems to be coming around a little.
As for Oswalt. There haven't been any rumors about that, but I would love to see him in New York. But then, I would love to see any top flight pitcher in New York, especially someone with his talent.
We'll have to wait and see...
You are right, it is April. The Yankees have had a tought schedule, they're over .500, and getting better.

Oswalt does have some Yankee connections in his former teammate and buddy Andy Pettitte. But I think he'd be too expensive. They'd want one of our young pitchers and Cano or Cabrera at minimum, and frankly, I'm not too fond about giving up any of those guys, let alone several of them. I say we continue to be patient with the kids through the All Star break, at least. A lot of people have forgotten what Phil Hughes did in the playoffs last year, how he shut down the Tribe hitters after Clemens left with an injury and allowed the Yanks to win that game. We know, from that experience, that he is capable of coming through in big games. But both he and Kennedy are young and with youngsters you HAVE TO expect some road bumps. Again, I suggest we all be patient for another couple of months or so.
As for Moose, the guy is not done. He's not anywhere near what he used to be, but he's not done. He's a #4 or 5 pitcher. What the Yankees are lacking now is a #3 (and yes, I do believe Wang and Pettitte are adequate as the 1 and 2...you do not need a shutdown ace to win a championship...we won 4 of them without a shutdown ace). Trading for another team's ace is too expensive.

Maybe a great game, but the White Sox gave it to them in the 6th. Johnny Damon should have been walked and I bet Derek Jeter would have grounded into a double play. Javier Vazquez would have not been so riled and would have pitched to Jeter alittle differently and patiently. Roy Oswalt is not unhappy with the Astros but he is unhappy with not winning. Thanks for the unsupported rumor. I do believe that Valverde could be had. His 12.75 ERA would fit nicely with the Yankees and thier pitching staff. He could team with Phillip Hughes for a nice two innings or so and then Joba Chamberlin can come in to get the win by pitching the last 7 innings.

Carrick, did we have a #1 from 1998-2000. David Cone and Roger Clemens did not quite fit the role neither did Andy Pettitte. But we still managed to win it all, didn't we?

Another well pitched game for the old man
stringing two games together is huge for him
he really had the curve ball going last night
if he gets some run support it would help him out tremendously

3 infield hits and a hit batsman is the only thing that saved him from a loss. It was a fluke and he would be done by the all-star break if it were not for the Hughes/Kennedy fiasco breathing life into his career
