Is this a way for the Tigers to get another one of there players to be a starter in the All-Star game. There was no way Cabrera would beat out A-rod for the starting third baseman spot in the All-star game so they move him to first.

I hope that was a joke.  I'm sure that Jimmy Leyland has a lot better things to worry about than if his 3B will be elected to the all-star game.  If you really think that's why he did it, you sir are lost.

Yeah it has to be a joke, because it was dumb. But he is a Yankees fan, so I am thinking it may not have been a joke.

I think it was done because in the games I've seen, Guillen sucks at first base.  I watched one game where he just dropped the ball and he doesn't seem to be able to scoop to many out of the dirt.

Apparently, Cabrera hasn't shed the excess weight as the Tigers had hoped. I know the guy can hit, but is his defense that horrible that he has to be sent to play first? How much experience does Cabrera have playing first? If they don't feel comfortable with him playing third, then move him to left field where he has some experience. I suppose Detroit has not panicked yet since they haven't moved Cabrera to DH. Too funny. The Tigers didn't have a clue when they traded for Cabrera and Willis and now they are paying for it. I hope they enjoy last place because adding too many superstars to a team doesn't guarantee success. Both New York teams are a great example of this. I figure that Willis will be traded within 2 years and Cabrera will traded shortly thereafter. He will have produced so much that he wants a raise or he gets tired of playing for the lowly Tigers. I never really understood why the Tigers thought they knew how to win again. Being successful for a few years after many futile seasons doesn't mean they forgot how to lose again. I figure that Leyland will quit or be fired  this season. He came back to manage  because it  was fun and he missed it. He will quit because losing is not fun and he will go back to enjoying his retirement.

They moved his fat a-- because he can't do it himself!!!  That's why he has a .900 fielding percentage.  He'll be lucky to make it to the all-star game now.  Besides, A-Rod will start there and Jeter will start at SS and Abreu will start in right, Posada will start at catcher.   not because monster years, but because they are Yankees, in the final season of Yankee stadium, in an all-star game.  Throw Pettite, Wang & Rivera in there too...

Wow that statement was dumb. Leyland is much more concerned with winning games that having starters on the all-star team.  But I can see why you would make such a dumb statement, your a Yankees fan.

WOW, why is noone considering the fact that this is a move to benefit the defense of the team? Maybe it wasnt that they were concerned about Cabrera at third but more so with Guillen at first. Maybe guillen didnt feel comfortable and they thought cabrera could do a better job. I have definatly noticed that guillen hasnt looked entirely too sharp at first!

Barak,

WOW also! this coming from a A's fan? nothing in your article made sense and all you sound like is a bitter fan. For what reason I don't know. WOW is absolutely the best answer to anything you said. WOW! Do you even watch the game or follow it at all or do you just read the newspapers a few times a year and hear about a couple players complaining and wanting to leave their team?
