The Vikings have reached an agreement with the Chiefs for Jared Allen. The Vikings will send its 1st round and both of its 3rd round choices in order to aquire Allen.
This gives the Vikings the best Defensive Line in football and in my opinion, enough amuniton to make a serious run at taking the division.
GOD I HATE THE G.D. VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah this is ugly news for us Lions fans.... Allen should give them a weapon against our passing offense and those DT's should be real trouble for the running attack we already dont have. I am really leaning towards Chris Williams if he falls to us. I doubt Harvey will be available for our "D" at 15. I wanted Mendenhall before, but have currently changed to Williams. OT is a MUST now and finding an OT in the second or third round will either be a project or not starting material!

Look at the good side of it, though. They gave up 3 of their top 4 picks, and only have the 47th pick out of the first 116 picks. That means they aren't going to strengthen the right side of their offensive line, bolster their WR corps, and unless a QB slides to them, they are relying on Tavaris Jackson lead them.
So they are trying to be a cheap knockoff of the Superbowl Bears, minus Devin Hester.
A 1st, and 2 3rd round picks is alot, even for a great player like Jared Allen.

When you base it off of the trade value chart, it actually is a pretty fair trade. In my opinion, I would much rather have a pro bowl DE than all three picks because they are all question marks. At least we have a pretty good idea of what we are getting in Jared Allen. Also, realistically, with the acquisition of Allen, I would not go calling our d-line the best in the league, as of right now that title belongs to the Giants, does the Vikings d-line have enough talent to challenge for that position, yeah, but I wouldn't call them the best yet. I do consider them in the top ten if not top five though. I am just glad that this will be able to prove whether it has been our db's that have been screwing up, or if it is actually the lack of a pass rush we have had in the past that has earned us a spot near the bottom for pass defense. Good luck in the draft and looking forward to the season already.

Yeah, they gave up WAY too much for Allen, no matter how good he is. There are plenty of good signs for the Lions, though. Most have already been listed. But here's a couple more...
1. Jared Allen is one mishap away from a one year suspension
2. Look at the recent HUGE dropoffs of production from guys like Freeney and Peppers. Allen is great, but there is no sure thing anymore, even with an established player. And getting a huge new contract doesn't always bring the best game out of a player, to say the least.
And I still want Jonathan Stewart in this draft. I would gladly take Clady or Harvey, but I don't think either will be there. The closer the draft gets, the more Houston is falling in love with getting an OT, and I see a potential partner to trade down. Picking at 18 would still get us Stewart, and if we wanted to reach for Mayo he will still be there. So anything extra we can get from Houston would be a great move and still fill a dire need.
