Seems from what im reading that you guys really dont have a lot of faith in your boys this upcoming season. I thought i would stop by and just see what Purdue was all about considering my Ducks will be making a visit to you. From what i gather, you guys seem to have the "with a little luck we can be an 8 win team" or "we'll lose to all the good teams, but beat all the crappy ones" mentality. Doesnt sound too promising to me. I really dont have a clue of what kind of football team you have, and i consider myself a very informed college football fan. I know you have a ugly quaterback that can throw a pretty ball in Painter, but an O line that cant block. And as far as skilled positions go, Ronald McDonald could be your RB and i wouldnt know it.
So.........are the Boilermakers as bad as its own fanbase thinks they are??? ;-) I'll let you know, that if your sticking with the we'll lose to all the good teams yada, yada.....Oregon falls under the "good" teams classification. So you can take that as you will. We have question marks just as you do. However we are able to stay optimistic because we know the amount of FREAK athletes we have waiting to replace the departed. Regardless im excited for the game. Good luck guys, you might need it ;-)
GO DUCKS!!!

If this same team was taking the field 3 or 4 years ago, there would be a ton of optimistic fans creating threads! however the sad fact is that every year our boilermakers start out guns a blazing! then shut it down after they loose to Ohio state or michigan! One thing that is in our favor, however is that Purdue USUALLY plays great in the first half of the season!

What he said. I think it's more of an issue of being perpetually let down than anything else. It's not so much that we think we're going to be bad, but that we have little confidence that we'll be that good. That might change if we beat your Ducks handily, though...
Granted it's not like we're saying we don't think we'll make it to a bowl, but we've yet to show that we're capable of being an elite team, even when we have elite talent at skill positions. See also: Tiller's record vs. ranked teams. That said, I still like to say I'm optimistic. My money is on 8-4, but I wouldn't be completely shocked to go 9-3. Anything better, suffice it to say I'd be happily surprised :)

Wow, are you kidding? I didnt think you all were that bad, but hoping for 7 wins?!?! I think what my fellow Duck robtully is asking is give US a prediction of what you think the score will be? Am i off base here rt32?
I predict 27-14 Ducks. Ducks need to find a damn quaterback though first. They are rotating 5 right now in spring camps. Granted all have a TON of talent, but you cant teach experience. Our lack of that might be your only hope Boilermaker nation. See you in September!! ;-)

I promise Purdue will score more than 14 points! Painter is a senior with some really talented WR's and 2 really REALLY good backs!! I went to the spring game and pass protection was not a problem at all, and we have some good linemen and lb's! If you guys want to win you better score more than 27 points!!! putting points on the board WILL NOT be a problem for the boilers!
Look, im not saying this team is bad, nobody is! we are just tired of being let down! every year it seems that we are a dark horse pick to win the BIG 10. Then, we start out 5-0 and completely tank it for 3 or 4 games! This team could win 10 games( HIGHLY UNLIKELY), and the same team could loose 6 or 7 games and miss a bowl! However, Purdue performs best when noboby is looking! when no one expects anything they go on a win streak! and this season nobody is expecting anything! I'm excited about that!

Oregon is no slouch, but they are going to miss their big guy's. Purdue is not going to be hurt by what they have lost, Purdue is a system on defense anyone can come in and play GOOD defense. The problem this season will be, coming up BIG, the season that MBB had, it will be hard on the football team to eclipse that, 8 wins will be good enough for the fans 7 will keep them coming, anything less the fans might just boycott the team next year. PU 42-Oregon 30, putting the Boiers in the top 25

Putting up points against Oregon's defense will be no easy task. The Ducks' D isn't a Central Michigan. They held USC to 17 points and Michigan to 7 last year and will only be better next year. Offense is the only question, and with Chip Kelly that questionmark fades away pretty quickly.
What are the key reasons why you think Purdue will take the Ducks? Key personnel? Game plan? Strengths and weaknesses of the Ducks you think Purdue can exploit? Lets hear it!

Isn't it still April? Who knows what's gonna happen in the next few months. Purdue needs to get healthy and start incorporating the system that Danny Hope is going to utilize in th future.
