&nbs p;   Well I guess a few good bounces, plus a Penalty shot and fear of losing on home ice were not enough to stave off elimination tonight.I think besides a few brief moments this Devils team struggled in this opening round. This could have and probably would have happened against any first round opponent.Though I have to tip my hat to the Rangers because At every turn whether it be a bad pass,Execution of game plan,Countering and beating Devil Matchups the Rangers had there way.Besides Gomez showing up on the ice maybe he helped draw of this Diagram to work this way.So much could be said, and so much to talk about, but there is now alot of time as everything grinds to a halt and the dismantling be it minor or major takes place, who knows where it goes now.Though I thank the Devils for showing up and playing, you cant always get the result but it seems like they left it all on that brand new ice, thats only 1 round,howevershort.....though look on the bright side up until the end Chico was still giving the Devils the benfit of the Doubt saying maybe the Devs would have been better with a Power Play then a Penalty shot,Chico it fell way to short .....but hey hes drinking from the always half filled glass!!!!!!!! Next season and alot of talk from now till Free Agency huh?

Alot would agree that the season as a whole turned out better than at the beggining of the year. I, along w/ many fans thought the Devils would not even make the playoffs and even thought they would finish in the basement. I know it's whipped cream on dog sh!t but they did do better than expected. Lundquist played amazing and what really kills me is that their young players are far far far better than what we have now and in the minors.

What moderate respect I had for Chico is completely gone and I can see him not coming back next year. Doesn't matter. The last 2 teams the Devs got bounced by have gone on to the Cup finals. Lets hope that trend ends. GO FREE AGENCY PERIOD!!!!

I too salute the Devils on an overachieving season. Like many of us, I as very pessemistic at the begining of the year, and thought the Devils would finish the season with a below .500 record and end up missing the playoffs. Although they did not get very far in the playoffs, they certainly proved us wrong, and I have to say as a fan, Im very proud of what this team accomplished this year. One thing that upset me was Brodeur's classless snub to Sean Avery, which I think Marty deserves a little criticism for. I doubt it, but I hope somebody tells him off for that unsportsmanlike, classless, and immature act that he pulled during the handshake. I think it's safe to say that admist our discussions and arguments amongst each other and with any outside fans, we all had fun throughout the season and have the summer (though I doubt you will see the Devils do much) and next year to look forward too.

Good job boys and see you next year!

There was never a good reason Why Adam Graves Snubbed Claude Lemieux, and why Marty couldnt Shake Avery's hand.Marty  should have given a quick handshake,as mad and Cheap Minded as Avery can be at Times hes standing on a line of players with great tradition that all participate in a handshake(didnt have to say a word, just look him in the eyes and shake his hand)....Marty Teach the Young kids that are Fans true Sportsmanship, that was not good. Marty, you have done alot and I appreciate you as a Devils fan,but hockey will was here before you and will go on after you.

You know what it's time for Avery to get decked I'm sorry.  I wish Marty punched him square in his face.  If I was Marty I wouldn't shake his hand either.  The guy is a punk.  As far as the Devils go we couldn't do anything right for the last couple of months it seemed like.  Especially when it came to making a simple pass to clear the zone.  We really missed Rafalski guys.  We have to admit it.

Now hopefully we go after a scorer or 2.  We can work on the D but scoring has to come natural to someone.  Make a run for Jokinen and Hossa.

Marty did show a little classlessness but it was deserving to Avery. Avery didn't even look at him so he is as much too blame but that's Avery being Avery I guess.  He gets so many breaks from the leaque for his bullsh!t and somebody is going to make a big deal over Marty snubbing him. Marty earned the  right to do that. It was also wierd to see Gomez give him a hug right after that.

I was surprised to hear that last night...really uncommon of Marty.  He's a classy player and that bothers me that he snubbed Sean Avery (granted, he probably deserved it, but still, good sportsmanship is always important).

It's sad that they're already out, but at least I am proud that they made it to the playoffs again (11 years in a row...not too shabby).  This was a tough year for them and there was a lot of speculation early in the season if they would actually make them.

Now (hopefully) Lou will starting working out the problems and fulfill the needs of NJ so they can come back even stronger next year.

I'll always be proud of NJ...we'll be back next year...GO Devils!
