that year was their year.  if we had michael bush no doubt in my mind that we would have been national champs.

ewinter, are you saying Michael Bush punishing Rutgers defense for blitzing every play by rushing for 200 and 3 TD's would have changed the game's outcome? Geez, if we don't go offside and give them 2 tries  to kick a field goal, we probably go undefeated even without Bush. What would Texas's record have been if Vince Young goes out first game of the season or USC if Reggie Bush is gone after the first half of the first game of the season.  I just hope Michael Bush finally gets healthy and show what he can do in the NFL, but i fear that the missed time away from the game and questions about whether he will ever be 100% will really kill his career. Such a shame for him. He could have been on a BCS champ and a lottery pick and probable star for 5-8 years in the NFL. He had so much talent. But I think his running style was going to cut his career short sometime. OH WELL & WHAT IF. History is what it is. Just keep believing in Coach K. I trust Jurich and I think we WILL play in a BCS Championship game sometime, hopefully sooner than later.

Such a shame for him. He could have been on a BCS champ and a lottery pick and probable star for 5-8 years in the NFL. He had so much talent. that's how i feel too.  he should have just redshirted that season and came back to play last year or whenever he would get better.  that game against uk was terrible for me.  i had my first night off in awhile, just cracked open my third beer while enjoying the cards pounding the pussycats and my daughter had  a febrile seizure.  so i ended up in the emergency room all night and then find out the next morning that bush was gone for the season.

I don't want to point fingers or make excuses for what might have been. However, I have watched the play on which Michael Bush broke his leg and it was at least a borderline "horse-collar" tackle. I don't blame the UK player at all. Bush was killing them(look at hi stats from the first half) and he was just trying to bring Bush down anyway possible. It was a one on one tackle in the backfield and the UK lineman was holding on for dear life as Bush was starting to pull loose. He definitely had a grip high on Bush's shoulder pads and when Bush started to go down, the tackler really pulled on him causing Bush to collapse backward on his leg. Dirty play? NO WAY. He was just trying to get this beast down on the ground and grabbed whatever he could get a grip on. I blame the NCAA for not banning Horse Collar tackling as the NFL had done five years ago. I hope nobody misinterprets this as a cheap shot or trying to injure a player. It just happened. But it probably changed Michael Bush's life forever. If the rule had been in place already and players where coached to avoid horse collar tackles, well if Al Gore wins the recount in Florida. If changes nothing. And it could still have happened. It's called the ROY WILLIAMS RULE, but I saw Roy get called for it twice in one game next year. UK fans, please don't be offended by this posts. I would have done the same thing to make that tackle. I'm railing against the NCAA for not paying enough attention to making rules to prevent injuries to amateur athletes whose life gets changed forever. No decision IS a decision.
