Cierre Wood, the number 3 overall player(RB Oxnard, CA) in the land according to Rivals, has narrowed his list down to two schools. The finalists are Notre Dame and UCLA. Mr. Wood will be in town this weekend for the spring game. Hopefully he has a stellar trip and we can lock up committment number two.

What makes it even better for ND is that UCLA currently has 7 TB's and another 3 coming in the fall. So they have huge depth at the TB position. The one thing that may hinder us is he wants and architect degree and at ND that requires you to go to rome for a year to study. I don't know if UCLA has that requirement. And I also don't know if there is anyway that the school could work around that and split it up or something.

Rumor has it.... Its do or die for the Irish. ND is #1 and if he likes it he will commit and be the headliner of the class. If he doesn't like it he will commit to UCLA...

According to the forecast, it's going to be about 60 degress with a chance of thunderstorms. It's obviously not the greatest weather in the world, but it could be worse being northern Indiana and all.
One positive is the fact that his mom is coming along, and we know how much moms love Notre Dame. Not only that, Dayne Crist, A Mac, and Jordan Barrett are all coming as well. therefore, Cierre will have all the Cali boys in his ear as well. I'm thinking we get our second committ sometime this weekend!

I have not gotten a chance to catch up with our targets from this year yet so pardon by stupid question. Is Woods a speed back that can compliment Jonas or is he a power back like Hughes and Alridge or is he a balanced guy that can do it all? I figure he is probably all-around if he is rated that high.
Also I noticed on scouts and rivals that Jake Golic is not a ranked TE with only one star. Is that because he sucks or is it because they haven't updated information for him? Scouts has some schools like Ohio St., Boston College, Florida and Maryland that showed a little interest in him so I find it hard that he is a one star player; not that these arbitrary stars and position rankings are worth a crap in indicating what kind of player these guys are capable of being.

Scout and Rivals haven't finished their rankings of all the players yet. The fact that he still isn't ranked for either site indicates that he'll probably start out as a three star recruit. He still has a whole season ahead of him to show off his skills though, so we might see his ranking increase.

Cierre Wood is a balanced back that possesses good, but not great speed. His junior videos were nothing short of amazing. Not only did he rush for over 2,600 yards last year, he scored 42 touchdowns as well. Rivals will update their rankings multiple times before signing day, but I think it's a safe bet that Mr. Wood will finish as a 5-star running back. He would signal the first major coup of this recruiting campaign.

this will be big for the IRISH. ND needs to keep bringing in talent to win another Championship. I am sure his visit this weekend will go well. The Blue-Gold game will definitly make him chose ND over ucla.

I saw both Wood and Stockton today as I was walking to the library parking lot from the Joyce center after the brunch with the players. I wanted to say "Hi" but they were both occupied with people showing them around the campus so I did not want to intrude.

Ladies and gents, it looks as though we received a few early Christmas gifts. Not only did we land the number one running back in the land, we also received a commitment from Tyler Stockton. Stockton is a huge get because he's a perfect fit for nose tackle in the 3-4. Anthony Lalota, a defensive end and teammate of Stockton also picked up an offer this weekend. Both are four star players and have talked about playing together in college. Things are looking good to land Mr. Lalota as well. Landing players from the Garden state also continues the recent success Charlie Weis has had in getting top notch prospects from his home state. All in all, a good weekend on the recruiting front for the Irish!
