I understand our needs in other positions and although I like DMac I must agree that our backfield isn't as crowded as one may think. Think about this:
Justin Fargas - 1 break out year and stays injured more often then not. Given his history there is no doubt in my mind that he'll end up hurt again. For those of you that thinks otherwise, you guys need a reality check.
LaMont Jordan - I mean the guy is a work horse....an aging work horse but let's face it, if his stiff back acts up again then what good would he do for us? HELLOOO anybody listening????
Michael Bush - An unapproved rookie coming off a leg injury. Now, in all fairness let's just forget about the broken leg and say it's 100% solid. The physical part of him will go but mentally? I dunno....that is what bothers me most about relying on Bush in the backfield.
So, out of the three mentioned 2 are a lock to get major playing time. Justin and Lamont. Bush will get limited playing time and by the time the season starts I strongly believe that Lamont will get cut leaving Bush, Fargas and possibly DMAC battling it out for the starting position. Believe me when I say there will definitely be more cuts to clear up a tad bit more cap space and LJ appears to be the most fitting given his $4 mil salary, bad back and the fact that Fargas signed a long term deal. As for Bush, if the Raiders are sold on the fact that he's completely healed and he does well in the off season training...then why keep Lamont Jordan? Forget about what the analyst think because if Al does what he does best and that is go for the gusto! D Mac will be in Silver in Black.
