How crazy would it be if Pineiro can bounce back with a solid game. Then the alleged worst rotation in baseball will have too many starters.
Who goes to the bullpen if Pineiro starts?

With the way things are going and our record, I wish they would have stuck Piniero in the bullpen until one of the SPs faulter. We are playing really well right now and I don't think we need to change anything. However, Piniero is pitching tonight and &#@#ing everything up already. Here's to him going to the bullpen for a while. Cheers...

RamsRush39,
Here is a link to a very recentr thread in which your question of who goes to the pen is answered;

Now on to the first part of your message. In my opinion, no it honestly wouldn't be crazy for Joel to pitch a solid game. Instead it would be a blessing. However, gauging by the score when I started watching the game on tv he didn't have a very good game today. But he'll bounce back.

hooper2287,
I respectively disagree with you my friend. The best thing the Cards can do with PJoel Pineiro is to leave him in the rotation for now. Let him face some live major league hitting and see IF he can bounce back. I myself would give him roughly 3 or 4 more starts before making a decision of whether to send Joel to the bullpen or not
It seems to be that your first start back from the DL is not going to be the greatest. However, after that start things seem to start falling into place.

I think Pineiro should have started in the bullpen. Are starters have all been doing so well, and to plug in Pineiro might only hurt us. He just got a little lucky last year with the Cardinals. Don't forget he was pretty much being released by the Red Sox when we picked him up.

Also remember that we wanted him really badly before last season began, so I think Dave Duncan and Tony know that Joel is capable of more than what he produced today. Thank goodness tomorrow is an off day, giving the guys time to rest after these stretches of games, and hopefully we can tear some Sh** up at home and take these next few series.

j-birds,
I do welcome your very interesting thoughts dude. For all anyone actually knows you and anyone else that says put Piniero in the pen may just be right. All I am saying is I wouldn't be so quick to jump on that bandwagon. In his next start he might just pitch more like the Piniero that we know he is capable of. It may take a few starts for him to get into his groove since he missed part of spring training and the first 12 games of the season.
Patience my friend, patience. Go Cards!!!! 68

Good ole' Joel...He'll be alright . We'll just give him some time and let Thompson kick some ass as a long relief pitcher. Speaking of Thompson though, during the game today, they were talking about how bad the mound was and that Thompson couldn't get his sinker ball to work right. Apparently the mound was too flat and not enough slope in the front or something. I guess not all the mounds are the same. Brewers...Here we come!! GO CARDS!!

Thanks tauboy4, We are truly looking forward to the challange. Your starters are looking great and our offense is not even close to on track right now. You guys get our bottom three in the rotation so you guys should enjoy a nice series here.

To a previous poster. I dont think Piniero got lucky last year, I just think he fit better with last years ball club rather than the Red Sox. He's a ground ball pitcher and lets face it we take pride in our defense especially in the middle infield. Eckstein was always dependable and whether it was Kennedy, Ryan, or Miles we knew that our defense at second base was always going to be reliable. And with Scott Rolen and Albert Pujols on the corners, well you just can't ask for much better. I'm just saying give him a little time with this team. He stepped to the mound today with Rico Washington playing 3rd, Aaron Miles playing SS, and Chris Duncan playing 1B. I'm not saying they're not good defensively, it's just that it is quite a difference then what he was used to last year.
Clearly he didn't look comfortable today and he's going to have to develop a feel for these players. Let's give him time to adjust and in time I think we will see the same Piniero we were used to seeing at the end of last year's campaign.
