Roswell Ed ,Thank you for stating the obvious., although it doesn't seem like the NFL, and sports networks in general understand the obvious. People do not want arrogant   A#$%%  announcing or commentating. I equivocate it to the Britney Spears  fiasco. Does anyone actually like her music? Is there someone out there who claims to be the first "Britney-phile'-finding her in her early years and raving to all of their freinds about how great this chick is , and how you've simply got to hear her. NO! It's because they found someone that could sort of hold the job together (with Britney it is by continuing to wear little clothing and showing up for "personal appearances" contrived by her Record label). With most of these sport "journalists" that you have listed I feel personally that they were the guys that knew enough about sports and then perhaps received a degree, but then decided that they were more interesting than the sports that they were covering.

I too am tired of Gumble. I have never had the NFL network and I do not want it. I am a 35 year old die hard Steelers fan. I will sit and watch the computer update rather than listen to Gumbel. As for the others? Rome, sick of it I'm over it dude. I am not a Clone. Bayless? Does his Mom even like this guy? His head will explode someday. On Steven A.-It's not a political office ,TRACY MORGAN, get your own thing, It's been done. The others I am not as familiar with because I have either given up on certain radio shows or it is nt in my market. But I am safe to assume  that if it does not follow mainly sports in all of its guts and color. I do not care anymore. Oh, Stuart Scott is O.K. but that's mainly the problem.-E.K.

If Collinsworth would have the good judgment to quit also that would really be nice.

They are both pompous, condescending asses. Good ridance.

Now if we could only get rid of collinsworth.  I am tired of hearing about the things he did in football on almost every play.

Man, that guy would put me to sleep just listening to him!   However, I will admit that I'd rather listen to him more than ESPN's horse's a$$ duo of Emmit Smith and Michael Irvin!  Now, those are two commentators who should be fired!

I agree he was probably the worst play-by-play guy i have ever heard. He had no passion for what was going on in the game and it showed.

I believe it probably went something like this:

NFL Network: "Okay, Mr. Gumble, here's how it works.  We have decided not to retain your services as our play-by-play man.  We really don't want to fire you (but we will if we have to - implied)."

In effect, he was fired.  And it was long overdue.

Excellent move by the NFL network.  It's pretty sad when Cris Collinsworth is the better of the two announcers.  Now watching football games, hopefully, will not be as painful.

I will miss Gumble. He managed to do something no one else could do. He united all football fans. It didn't matter if you were a Redskins or a Cowboy's fan; A Patriot or a Colt fan... Fans on opposite sides of the country such as the Dolphins and the Seahawks, and it didn't matter if you were an everyday, hardcore fan or a passive, once-in-a-while fan, we all could agree on this one topic: Bryant Gumble was a terrible play-by-play announcer.

I will miss turning my television volume down and my radio volume up and having to deal with the delay in time rather than listening to those two. *wipes tear away from eye* Those were good days.

Dennis Miller was ten times better than Gumble. And that;s bad!!!! He is more of a golf or baseball announcer. He's is good at interviews and other things, but i agree he was a poor football anylst!!!!

Dennis Miller makes Gumble look like the choice between vacationing in Hawaii or Haiti. I couldnt believe Gumble got a second year. Must be nice to have friends.
