I know it's way early but he's always had so much potential .. just has hardly been able to put it together. Anyone else here thinking Bobby Crosby can have a reall successful year and contribute for an entire season for the team?
BTW it's encouraging to see Huston Street play better his last two outings.

I don't see any reason whatsoever to throw in the towel on either of them. They both have loads of talent. Crosby has just been unlucky. Street has gotten off to a slow start this season, but he will keep coming around.

I said it all along Bobby Crosby will have a monster year! He has had a string of bad luck, couple that with fighting for a playoff spot.
You tend to put too much pressure on yourself to make plays and get hits. He has no expectations this year, it's a rebuild. All he has to to is go out and play ball and stay healthy.

From the recap of yesterday's game:
"Crosby has gone seven games without striking out, the longest stretch of his career. He's struck out just once in 36 at-bats this season."
One of Bobby Crosby's problems has been strikeouts. He struck out a lot his rookie year, as most rookies do, and then that number was supposed to drop but never got the chance because of his repeated injuries. I think this is a combination of his being fully healthy after a full spring training and the changes he made to his swing.
He doesn't have any HRs yet this year, but that's not a big deal. It is still very early in the season and he has been getting doubles. The HRs will come.
I disagree with the part about the A's not having expectations this year. Crosby and the rest of the Athletics have been saying that they have a lot of talent ever since Spring Training started. They know they have a good team this year and I get the feeling they are expecting to compete for a playoff slot. They are not rolling over in any of the games and are playing like they are hungry.
On another note, is anyone still saying that the A's are going to lose 100 games this season? We have been playing extremely well and don't have our best all around hitter and player back yet. When Eric Chavez gets fully healthy and returns... I'm ok with him missing the first month of the season as well if it means that he really gets 100% healthy because I believe that once he gets 100% again he will be done with the injury troubles. I don't want us to bring him back too early only to see him not be able to perform or go right back down with injury again.

I couldnt agree more Isaiah.
I have been really excited about the way the A's have played so far this year. The Pitching has be Exellent and now the Hitting is starting to heat up. Ryan Sweeney looks like he could be a nice fit for the future of this team and suzuki is showing he can be a good hitter.
I have been really happy with the young pitchers we got and hopefully they can keep it up. I think the A;s could suprise alot of people and make a playoff run if things go right and we dont get hit with the injury bug agian.

Lets just wait until the All*Star Break. We can all agree Crosby is playing awesome right now, but lets just wait b/c he doesn't get hurt until a month in and he doesn't slump until a month in, so lets wait a month and make conclusions at the break. I dont trust Crosby, but am happy that he isn't hitting his usual .230 with back to back throwing errors.

How about you get off Bobby Crosby's back already? His last injury was a broken hand due to a Justin Speier fastball on the night he was starting to come back around and get his timing back. Yes, Justin Speier of the Angels. Yes, the Angels who always play dirty. Yes, also the same Justin Speier who beaned Travis Hafner, just this last Wednesday, the day after Hafner hit a HR off him. Are you going to blame Crosby for that injury? Is he "injury prone" because a pitcher threw inside and broke his hand? Everyone inside the organization - players, coaches, management, etc. - (translation: everyone in any position to know anything) only talks about how much talent Crosby has, and has always had, and how he is not injury prone but has just been incredibly unlucky. How about you back off and give him a chance?

I don't like Emil Brown as an everyday player either. I think he is there to spell the younger guys through a 162 game schedule. It would be silly to start him over any of the young guys and stunt their learning curve in the majors.
Crosby, I think will have a monster year and suprise the WORLD by staying healthy and put up team MVP numbers. I don't think he will match his career high in HR's though, there isnt any protection in the lineup for him.
To sum things up, I am excited to see these guys develope like the A's of the late 90s. I am sure you guys remember that team which took the Yanks to 5 games in the ALDS.I said that back in Jan, about B Crosby with Mike Sweeney as the team leaders. They will continue to improve and maybe win 95 games this year.
As for Rich Harden, I give up. This dude could ruin a wet dream, he is that super hot actress that never does a nude scene. Just a damn tease. Just move him to bullpen and let him get mop up work.

Yo, Swinger06... do you call yourself a true A's fan? I mean, c'mon. Yes, Crosby being hurt over the past couple of years has been frustrating for all of us who pull for the A's but like Isaiah4110 said, he's had a lot of bad luck. Right now he's playing the best ball of his young career and the scrappy A's are so-far-so-good, right? You yourself have noticed he's playing "awesome right now" so try to enjoy the ride instead of bringing your negative "he's going to get hurt" attitude around. What do you have to gain by posting your anti-Crosby thoughts, anyway?... That you'll look like some sort of prophet if he does get hurt? That you can look back and say "I told you so?"
Anyways, it's still way too early in the season but the way they've come out of these first couple of weeks (8-4 right now) has given us fans reason for hope that the 2008 A's will surprise all of the so-called experts. Let's hope they can keep up their grit!
Go Bobby Crosby and the Oakland Athletics!
Peace.
