Does anyone know whats going to happen when Owens comes off the DL? I really like Quentin in left and Swisher leading off. However I wouldn't mind Owens speed at the top of the lineup.

I would like to see Swish move into the 2 spot. He will drive in some runs. He has some power but I would like to see some more speed at the lead off spot

Ozzie and Kenny said that they have no thoughts of changes the current club, and that Owens isn't even guaranteed a roster spot.

Seafan is right. I heard the same thing. If the current roster is playing well, Owens will probably be in the minors. Quentin should not be sent down and replaced by Owens. Anderson has earned his way on the team via his performance in Spring Training. It is a shame they haven't been able to get him some ABs.

I think Carlos Quentin will start no matter what. Personally I think that Anderson will be the one to go down as he doesn't bring the speed Owens brings, Owens is lefty and Ramirez can also play the infield. Anderson isn't going to pinch hit over Ozuna, he isn't going to pinch run over Owens so he is basically stuck in late inning defensive replacement and Owens/Ramirez can handle that. Add in the fact that Ramirez can play the infield and Anderson will be shipped out.
There is a lot of love on the White Sox broadcasts and on these boards for Brian Anderson and quite frankly i don't know why. He has never done anything to make me believe he is worth all the fuss that surrounds him. I think he had one nice game vs. Felix Hernandez in 05. Other than that- he plays good defense, can't hit for power, can't hit for average, isn't extremely fast.....he's just not that great. I'd rather have Owens any day.

The team is going to have to go through a rough period before they will ever consider bringing up Owens. And Quentin is earning his starting job. I would love to see Owens speed in the line up, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

My guess ? Owens comes up, after a rehab stint to prove that he is healthy in AAA. Anderson goes down. Owens, Quentin, and Ramirez platoon in CF,LF.
Anderson is getting no PT, so I don't see him sticking around when Owens is good to go.

I guess having too many players deserving pt is a good problem to have. (I wish we had this problem with starting pitching) Ozzie is doing the right thing this year by not just handing players playing time. Anderson was one of the hottest players in spring training so he deserves to stay up for now.

To me, the answer to this question has more to do with Nick Swisher then either Owens or Quentin. As long as Nick establishes himself as a formible leadoff man (look at that OBA!) then we would be better suited with Jerry as a fourth outfielder. Quentin has more upside, and is a better fit for the lineup spots available to him. If however, we need to move Swisher down to help out on the power/rbi side, then having Jerry leading off isin't so bad. Jerry is a real good safety plan, but I don't think he has a starting role right now.

I agree with most of what has been said. Right now you have to go with Quentin, and if he starts to slump then you give Owens a shot. I would hope Swisher can maintain that leadoff spot, as one of the issues I saw with Owens last year is that his hitting was abismal in that lead-off spot.
