Kev...yes BSU has had succes against cream puffs.....but he constantly says he will not play 2 for 1 games against BCS schools... that is the only way you are going to get them to play you with a 30,000 seat stadium.
we and the nation have noted the success of the program.
I don't think you realize how much the nation attributes BSU's success to the lack of competition...the reason teams like LSU can put cream puffs on their schedule is they are pretty much gonna play at least 1 top ten team and 2 or 3 top 25 teams in conference...BSU's big wins against BCS schools are Iowa state and Oregon State at home and OU.....not much of a resume....
Kev...I might be wrong but I think most of your fellow Bronco fans(Lobe,PS, BA etc.) are ready to take it up a notch....you seem to be happy with wins over no bodies....I for one would love to go to games and watch BSU play...but I don't enjoy watching blow outs against Weber State....I went to the BYU and Fresno games a couple of years ago and plan on going to the Oregon game...both here and there...
Aren't you ready to bring teams like OU into Boise and show the nation what a great town Boise is?

Or you could do like nevada and drop BYU for Grambling State? Talk about stepping up in competition. I love a WAC fan ripping on BYU's OOC schedules. It's pretty rare that BYU doesn't have 2 or 3 tough OOC teams on their schedule. Nice try though Fosty.

Catfan, 2 Pac 10 teams and 2 SEC teams every year might be a bit overzealous, although i would certainly respect any team that was willing to do that.
I think for teams like BSU, BYU, FSU, Utah, TCU, a perfect OOc schedule would be to play 2 average to above average BCS schools, 1 high midmajor, and 1 low-average midmajor. This is what most high midmajors try to do. The only highmidmajor that doesn't seem to schedule like this consistently is BSU for some reason. I'm not sure why that is, but it seems like they typically schedule 1 decent BCS school, 2 below average-average midmajors and a DII every year. Like you said, if your LSU you can do that because your conference schedule is so tough. Fans of BCS conferences think the WAC is terrible competition and therefore, they won't respect a team playing in the WAC that also plays subpar OOC schedules as well.

UD,
The Blue Bloods have thought of the emmbarrasment you speak of but dont see it as a threat. Why should they see that when in the end that App St. loss proved to be nothing more than a blip on the radar late in the season when UM squared of against a mostly also untested tOSU in a game with NC implications.
Very good point. A loss like this by any non-BCS conference team would have never been "ignored" by the pollsters. Apparently running the table in one of the weakest major conferences AND losing to a Div 1aa team (albeit one of the best Div 1aa teams) only affects non-blue blood teams.

UD and Lobe.....I agree....but don't think that a loss by most BCS schools to App. State would not have killed them too...there are a few "elite"(according to press) that could survive such a loss....OU,Texas, LSU,Georgia,OSU,UM,USC and any Florida school...the rest of the BCS boys would have been killed by that loss....not as bad as a mid major school maybe....but out of BCS bowl picture for sure...

No underdog, if the W.A.C. were to have a contract with the S.E.C. so that the top W.A.C. team would get a home game every other against who ever came in fourth the year before and the W.A.C. team that came in sixth whent on the road to play their third placed team.
Once agian I never crunched the numbers, but You get the Idea.
It will work as long as the big conference gets more home games and more easy games without playing any false 1-a teams.

In the other year that the W.A.C. champion didn't play the S.E.C. they could play a home with the Big10.

A quick over view for how it could work. (non-B.C.S. B.C.S.)
1 plays 4 (conference a) at home
2 plays 4 (conference b) at home
3 plays open non-B.C.S road or away
4 plays 3 (conference a) away
5 plays 3 (conference b) away
6 plays open team (conference c) home
7 plays open (conference a,b, or c) away
and so on.
Once again I never looked at numbers, this is just a guess as to how it could work.
