As posted Tim Sylvia will fight Fedor on HDnet fights on July 19th.  I'm curious how many people are giving Tim a chance.

Fedor will crush Sylvia. This won't even be funny. Sylvia was champ of a weak UFC HW division.  He isn't qualified to hold Fedor's jockstrap.  Fedor by submission round 1.

Tim Sylvia only held the belt as long as he did because he would drag fights out and sit on his title. that's originally what got randy back in the ring because he got tired of watching the HW champ covet his title and not fight to keep it. Fedor on the other hand isn't known to sit back and wait for the fight to come to him. once in the ring Fedor will dominate Sylvia.

You left off Sylvia by decision. That would have gotten my vote.

Sylvia's not dominant but he's no joke either. I'm skeptical on Fedor since many dominant fighters come into the UFC and realize it is a step up in class. Please don't call me a noob b/c I don't/can't follow minor-league MMA. All I know is the big boys, and many people don't realize that there's a difference. Most of the Pride crossovers have at least been slowed down, some haven't done well at all. That's all I'm saying is that Fedor needs to show me something against a known commodity.

Here are two facts that give Sylvia a chance:

1. Sylvia is hard to take down because of his jabs and height.

2. Fedor hasn't won a fight by KO/TKO in 3 years, and hasn't stopped a fight in action in 5 years. The fight 3 years ago was a doctor stoppage. He's become a submission artist. Sylvia can be submitted, but it's not easy.

Unless I am forgetting someone, the only heavyweight that has come over from Pride and struggled was Cro Cop.

Heath Herring has been up and down (although he looked pretty good in his last fight), but I don't think anyone would have put him in the top 5 heavyweights in Pride when he was there.  Fedor, Big Nog, Cro Cop, Barnett, and Mark Hunt would all have been ranked ahead of Heath.  Nog is the current champ and Barnett held the title before leaving the UFC and heading to Pride.  And quite frankly, other than a guy with the submission skills and ability to take a beating of Nog, I don't think there is anyone in the UFC's heavyweight division right now that Barnett wouldn't run through.

But anyhow, I am super excited about this fight.  Timmy has been talking all kind of trash about Fedor for a few years now.  I want to see Fedor make him eat his words.

SuperKDogg,

I needed to respond to your post.

It seems you were implying that Pride was a minor league organization.  I may be mistaken but that was the impression I was given.  If that is in fact what you meant I find that beyond hilarious and just speaks to your ignorance of MMA.  Which was a better organization is a legitmate question and definitely one that has sparked much debate over the years.  I think both orgs had their strengths and weaknesses.  But for a fan of either to refer to the other as a minor leagues is way off base.

I actually do think that Silvia could give Fedor a tough fight, I however think Fedor will find a way to win most likely by submssion.  A major question about this fight is will it be a 3 round fight or a 5 round fight.  I think Sylvia would stand a much better chance of winning a 3 round decision than making it through 5 rounds with Fedor.

Your first point is a good one about about Silvia being hard to take down because of his jab, and I think his height and weight cou
