Ok so some of you may know that I root for the Lakers, which as you know means it is pretty much a given that I want to see the Suns in the first round, but I come in peace.  I just gotta ask you guys, do you REALLY want to see the Lakers so early in the playoffs?  I know you guys got us the last 2 years, but this year we are better and will have homecourt advantage this time around.  If I were a Suns fan, I'd be much more excited to see a team like Utah in the first round, because I think you guys beat the Jazz in a 7 game series.  Anyways I'm just wondering what you guys think about the possibility because as it stands right now our teams will play in the first for the 3rd year in a row.  And for the record, I'm not expecting any of you guys to admit you are afraid of the Lakers, just sort of a "best case scenario" kinda question.  Anyways good luck down the stretch

To be honest, I want them to face a team from the East other then Detroit or Boston.  The West is so loaded I don't think it matters who they play, its gonna be a tough series.  As for beating the Jazz in seven, I just hope the Suns have home court advantage, Utah is a tough place to win in.  I don't think anyone can make a logical choice on who is going to come out of the West.  Any of the eight teams can make a strong case, with the exception of the Warriors, I don't think they have any Magic left in those slippers.  Especially with the way Stephen Jackson has been cold of late.

Good question, being as unbiased as possible, I think the Suns have a better chance of beating the Lakers in the 1st round than the later rounds, and here is why.  The Lakers will still be working both Pau and Bynum back into the lineup together for the 1st time, and the Suns, I believe are the one team the Lakers would not want to try and work Bynum back in against, b/c he will be out of shape, and still learning his place alongside Pau in the post.  Every round later the Lakers have a chance to work on it they will be better and better.  I don't think there is any unbeatable team this year but, the later the Lakers see the Suns, Spurs, or Jazz the better. ( I excluded the Hornets b/c they are not as much a post based offense as the other 3).

DODGER,

Lets be honest about it.  It's a tougher task to play  in Utah on the road in the first round then it is the Lakers.  Not that the Suns can't beat Utah, but if I had to chose one I would much rather play the Lakers early, their Defense is not that great and it will be a fun series possibly 7 games long with LA.  with Utah it's a tough task for any team just to go to Utah, let alone have that team on the court.  It's a close call but I'm leaning towards facing the Lakers.

Well if the Suns get the 5th seed and play Utah and the Suns record is better, they will have homecourt regardless of the seeding.  I'm just saying you guys have had an easier time with the Jazz this year than you have with the Lakers.  Plus even if Utah has homecourt, they are terrible on the road, and winning one out of 4 in Utah is far from impossible.  And its not like you guys have a hard time scoring points regardless of how bad the other team's defense is.  I don't know I just wouldn't want to face a team that beat my team 3 out of 4 times during the regular season in the first round.

I get where you are coming from, I just think that the Lakers are going to be the most vulnerable (for them) in the 1st round while you are still reintegrating Bynum, after that, they are going to be tough to beat.

You're right dodger240, they could still get HC against Utah in the 1st round. The best time to face the Lakers however would be in the 1st round. They'll be in the middle of getting Bynum back in the flow of things and that could leave them a bit vulnerable. The later is the playoffs, the stronger the Lakers will get.

Yeah guys I understand the point about getting Bynum back and everything, but he won't be starting and most likely won't be getting huge minutes anyways.  As long as Pau is in there I still like our chances.  That being said, I'd probably rather face someone like Houston or Denver, but those are just the "safe" picks...if there is a safe pick in the west.  I want to take on Phoenix for obvious reasons, but thanks for the feedback.  And nice game without Shaq tonight

good point dodger240,but with all tha injuries tha Lakers have i guess walton is out too so thats another loss for them but regardless of who we play, tha west is tough and any team can lose no matter who they are. but inexperience is gonna hurt teams such as tha Hornets,Nuggets, and Rockets. but me being a Suns fan tha lakers will be a good first round opponent but we'll see.
