Six games into the season I am very happy that we won both series despite Andrew Jones.

8th inning today man on 3rd one out and he looks at a freaken fastball. We need Hu to come up clutch to get the victory.

Ned Colletti what has he done for us, His 2 big time aquisitions Jason Schimidt and Andruw Jones. Come On.

30 million dollars for those two guys this year.

Poor Derrek Lowe. Two grat pitching performances and nothing to show for it

We can expect a lot of K's out of Andruw this season and he has not proved his value with the bat as of yet.  It's still early though and if he gets hot he is the kinda guy that can hit a lot of longballs in a short period.  You have to admit that his glove out in center keeps us in the game on defense.  I have saw a lot of big plays from Furcal, Dewitt and Jones this year.  If we can get rid of the stupid errors we should be fine.  We had 2 yesterday and one was due to runner interference that nobody complained about.  Where was Bowa on that one?  I know he is on the 3rd base side but you could see that the runner was clearly on the inside of the basepath and Russell got an error because of it.

Nate,

I like how you try to put Colletti down...all the while failing to mention that Colletti also brought in Furcal, Saito, & Ethier who are big reasons why we've won both series.

Somebody tell me what in the world happened to Andruw Jones?  A couple of years ago he hits 50 HR and now he cant hit me!!??  Free Agency is a risky deal, sometimes u win , sometimes you lose  (Delino freakin Deshields, that was a trade, but im still bitter!!)I really hope he can find the magic, cause if he hits .226 and hits less than 20 HRs, then we are in trouble offensively.  Defensively he is a vacuum, any ball hit remotely near him will be caught.  I guess we take the good with the bad, but Jones can't be this bad, can he??  Someone reassure me please??

B

At this point I can't give you much assurance about Andruw.  I can only say that he is better out there than JP.  He still has that powerful swing and he will hit some out of the park.  If Loney, Kemp, Ethier, Furcal and Martin all have great years we won't really need Andruw for much more than Defense.  Kemp and Jones are going to lead the team in K's this year but hopefully will both lead the team in RBI's and HRs too.

Jones added some weight with the idea of adding more power to his swing. Since then his average has dropped though he has had decent power numbers, just not the 50 that he had in that one career season. (Interesting that a lot of guys' numbers dropped off after career years when drug testing kicked in, isn't it?). Jones still has some work to do on his swing. I'd rather see him hitting more line drives and using his speed because the man still has wheels, even with the extra weight. And his glove is awesome. He can still come around. This is WAY too soon to call him a bust, besides, Colletti got him at reasonable numbers for only two years. To get the big contract, he's got to produce. This isn't like signing Barry Zito (SF) or Kevin Browne (LA, ugh).

Andruw will be fine. So far it's Andruw as usual, remember he strikes out well more than 100 times every year, so we have to expect a .250 hitter and a lot of strike outs.  Although Jones heats up with the weather, last season he hit 8 home runs in July alone.  7 the year before in July.  The 2005 season when he hit 51 home runs...he only had 3 in April.

Checking last years game logs, he didnt hit his first home run until the 7th game, so hopefully history repeats itself tonight against Haren.

If you guys expected Jones to hit .350 with 54 jacks....then he wont be so clutch.

Expect .250-.270 with 30 hrs. And remember his defense. The guy has made some great plays out there that last year, would have gone for extra base hits. Not to mention the throw home when he stopped Molina from scoring. True Molina isnt fast, but he would have tried on Pierre, and may have scored.

Jones' defense helps the pitchers as well. They arent afraid to throw certain pitches, in certain locations, to certain batters that last year, and years prior for that matter, they wouldnt have tried.

The Dodgers offense sucks. Yup, cannot deny that. And we are 4-2. The Dodgers are doing enough to get by right now. Lots of one run games. The hitters will hit. Too much talent, potential and best of all...track history! on this team to show that they are all better than .229 hitting as a team.

I like what I see so far, other than Torre changing the line up everyday. I know its to be expected with a new team, but lets find some consistancey. And for the love of all that is holy....please sit Pierre. I almost think that Torre likes Kemp more, and is trying to light a fire in him, and is letting Pierre play. Lets hope it works and Kemp comes out this week like a house on fire, and hits .340 like he did last year. I expect big things from Kemp, this is just some motivation for the remaining 156 games.

It could be worse...we could have an offense predicted to score 1000 runs and be 0-5.
