How well will the Beavs do in 08, despite the schedule? (Not including bowl games)

From the article on the Beaver site, it looks like Lyle is getting a good deal of time and focus.   See how the O-Line looks against our defense, which is chomping at the bit to have at the offense in the Spring Game, FeaverFest thingy.  Lyle seems a bit more mobile than Canefield, so that might be good to give our WR core a half-second or so more to get open.  Quick slants and screens might be a good way to go with our talented WRs, especially if our line is a little iffy.  The end around might still be a good way to go, I'm wondering if our RB can be a good pass and run blocker?

Wonder if we will keep the single back formations, or look at a much more spread offense?  Dunno if this year we have a talented enough back coming into that spot, as he might take a year to groom into it.

Spread it out on many, and I-form some is what I'm thinking...don't think Riley will look to an option type game, I think our O-line will be good enough to hold for the time needed to throw, especially if Lyle is scrambling around a little.

Hopefully will hear some more good things next week...maybe the coach will have something to say.

I am going to be optimistic and say we go 8-4 in the regular season.  Our defense will be better than most suspect.  I'm really looking forward to what Coach Riley does with our running game.  My hopes were that either Ryan McCants or Jaquizz Rodgers are the real deal for RB's if not both.  Apparently though JC transfer Jeremy Francis has had an excellent showing and he has the potential to vie for the starting job.  Put James Rodgers fly sweep into the mix and OS could have an awesome running game next year.  Now all we have to do is hope that our offensive line can give the blocking necessary for a running game.

I am hoping that Coach Riley does a few more trick plays for James Rodgers, like the one that was done during a kickoff of the Oregon vs Oregon State game, where the kickoff receiver headed to the right then handed the ball off to James who ran behind him going the other way.  Oregon also did the same trick play that game as well.

i smell another winless season for the beavs!  at 0-12 the losing tradition is successfully upheld!  congragulations to the team for yet another perfect season and securing your spot as the worst bcs program in college football history.

Nice try but we have only had one winless season since 1900 so maybe try that insult on another team like Duke.

I think we have only had one, maybe two non-WINNING seasons sense the BCS has come about...wonder how many teams can say they won a BCS bowl game...cause we are one of them...

it is a shame they deleted my recap of the 28 straight glorious losing seasons of oregon state football.  there were 8 one win seasons and only a 31-28 come from behind victory over fresno state that saved a ncaa division 1-A record losing streak that would still stand today.  according to an espn readers poll there has never been a program so consistantly inept as oregon state.  WOW!  you guys really suck.  i hope all of your children contract terminal leukemia.  watching them wither away at the ronald mcdonald house will be a cheery respite from rooting for the beavers.  the only team more painful than cancer.  laugh out loud, hahahahahahahaahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really whitedude you have to wish death by a horrible disease on young children to make yourself feel better. OSU can't be worse than your favorite team since you're to ashamed to even put it in your profile.

Darn, I thought he wanted to talk football for a little while, but I was wrong.  Instead he wanted to post several times today over the last 6 hours and change.  Maybe whitedude's life is so pathetic he actually thinks that coming here and wishing cancer on everyone he might catch it over the internet and finally put himself out of his misery.

His perpensity to talk about the Ronald McDonald House, Hospice care, band camps, and constant negativity makes me actually wonder how socially retarded he actually is.  I think he has actually surpassed the beavers in a record, maybe that was his goal all along.  I think he has 28 straight posts of "let's prove to the world how stupid I am."

Sometimes it boggels the mind that he actually has not taken a Darwin Award and removed himself from our planet.

Although, it does beg to wonder, where does his inept way of thinking come from?  Well, I have a theory on that.  As I do believe he has given us great hints of insight into who he is.  So, here we go, this is whitedude in a nutshell:

whitedude is 15 years old.  Time at band camp and visits to the doctor's office to see his mentally challenged half-brother (mentally challenged because his parents were brother and sister), gave him enough time to study both the neuances of certain medical conditions, and enough time with his best friend and only friend, Webster (the dictionary).  Webster, or webby as he likes to call him, was very close to whitedude, until one day in the 8th grade (they socially promote to that grade in many states) a bully came over and ripped Webby up and called whitedude many names.  Most were the typical "Mama" type insults not taking too much wit and intelligence to come up with, but whitedude had his feeling hurt nonetheless.

After wishing cancer on this bully, the bully died of cancer 6 months later.  This gave him little solice, as Webby was still dead.  But, then he realized something.  On the World Wide Web (hmmm, Webby?), he heard there was a dictionary online.  Afte many late evenings alone with the new Webby he decided to take his friend out, to another website of course.  He went to many other places, and when he reached CBS SportsLine he saw someone's sign-in moniker which matched the bully kid's name (or nickname).  This brought back many bad feelings for whitedude, and it just happened that dictionary.com was down for maintenance.  Not being able to make the technical connection, he thought this new online CBSSports person was his old nemesis, reincarnate.

Socially repressed, and fresh on the path of perdition, whitedude began to sew the seeds of his discontent.  We have all seen the result of this played out.

I feel sorry for whitedude, and I think he has had enough torment without his best friend, Webby, so I will now let him in on the secret that he needs to hear.  The way to which he will be reborn in the light and goodness, and actually begin praising humanity on the web, instead of projecting the vile and darkness that has stemmed from so many years of pent up rage, sexual frustration, and inbreeding.  Here is the answer that he has been waiting for that will save both him and all of us....

Whitedude, TURN OFF THE COMPUTER AND GET BENT!

wow, what an acurate profile.  are you a gypsy fortune teller with a crystal ball to my soul?  perhaps you should be employed by the FBI and put your uncanny grip of humanity into catching today's most ellusive serial killers.  i am glad by stalking me through my posts you are able to gain so much enjoyment from this site.  i officially pronounce you whitedude's number 1 fan.  congragulations, you earned it.

I know I'm being optimistic but we have a schedule that could lead to another 10 wins.  There are a lot of "ifs" in there, but if we can put it together against Stanford, Penn and Hawaii to lead things off, there is every reason to believe we can pick up 10.

I put my vote in for the 6-7 wins, meaning that would be the fewest I think we should win, but that's why they play the games.  I think "if" some things pan out we can have a 9 win season, 10 would be highly optimistic outside of a bowl win especially.  The PSU game will be by far one of our greatest early challenges I'm guessing, and Hawaii will be gunning for us for what we did at their home 2 seasons ago.

If we do have 10 regular season wins it might be a run to a BCS game, that would be extremely impressive and highly enjoyable.  I won't be banking on that though.

I know 10 is a lofty number, and like I said there are a lot of "ifs".  If either Canfield or Moevao can step up, if the running game is as good as it can be, if if if if............I just like to think positive.  8 is probably a more realistic number.
