UCLA and Kansas, nice programs as they are, are over their heads in their semi games.
UCLA has a fine starting 5, but virtually NO BENCH.
Kansas has a fine group who, as shown in Davidson's challenge, can be rattled and has
no one who is a go to guy for the big shot. Rush is the closest and his name belies his tendency
when he shoots big shots.
NC has a great 5 and a great guy off the bench in Danny Green.
They also have the stud. But, against SUPERIOR talent, which they will face in Memphis,
they will fall...though not by much.
Memphis has TOO MUCH FOR THE REST. To wit:
1)A GREAT freshman in Derrick Rose, the next Heir Jordan
2) A fearless group and deep, no one on their bench, through the first 8 or 9, is afraid or out of place on the court.
(they are the ONLY team that can make that claim, though Kansas will try to)
3) Their experience in their big men will tell.
4) They can jump out of the gym....no one else has that ability.
5) They can deny Hansbrough the ball due to their speed, though Hansbrough, a true talent, will get his points.
6) Memphis only achilles heel, besides their free throu shooting, is whether they can play a slow down game.
They have done it when necessary, and pulled the game out.
Against UCLA that will be a factor, but their superior talent will win over uCA by at least 10.
Against NC they will be playing the game of their life, their style...NC will regret it.
In the end, talent and coaching...John Calipari has really grown as a coach. He always knew the x's and o's..now
he knows how to work with his players and show respect to them. They will reply in kind with a fitting triumph
on the 40 anniversary of the slaying of the greatest American in the past 60 years....Martin Luther King

I think UCLA is going to beat down Memphis bad, not even a close game. Memphis almost only challenge this year was against Tennessee who was proven to be not that great and you got beat in your own court. This could be ugly for Memphis.

Tennessee who was proven to be not that great Our only losses were to teams in the tourmnament and we beat 4 teams that made the sweet 16, we werent the greatest team, but we had a pretty amazing year. Memphis played like crap in the 2nd half and only lost by four points. For a gator fan to say UT was not that great is just stupid. How did the NIT work out for you? Memphis wipes the floor with UCLA, book it.

Memphis lost one game this year, to a damn good Tennessee team, and you somehow equate that to mean they aren't really that good? And Tennessee was proven to not be good because they lost in the Sweet 16? Their 2nd Sweet 16 in a row? The list of teams that can say they've played in the last 2 Sweet 16s is pretty short. Brilliant logic my good man, brilliant logic.

I can't wait to hear how silent Memphis fan gets when they are throttled defensively on Saturday. Please return to this site on Monday and take the proverbial pie in face retorts from UCLA fans that are definitely coming. We have been here and done this more than any program and UCLA doesn't put final 4 or conference championship banners up in Pauley Pavillion. Show me another school that can boast that. UCLA wins in a dog fight write it down.

UCLA has to be able to stay in front of Memphis though in order to play good defense and that probably will not happen. UCLA will have to shoot lights out in order to set up their defense and UCLA is not usually a great shooting team, keep Love off the offensive glass and Memphis wins this in a landslide.
UNC is the toughest minded and gritiest team out there, they beat one of the best teams in the country playing at its best all year in Louisville and they beat them handedly. UNC is the best team in Tournament and the best team in the Country they have been proving that all year and now it is their opportunity to make that statement on the biggest stage and they will do so against Memphis on Monday night.

I thought I said they weren't great? I never said they weren't good but really they played in a weak SEC conference this year, they weren't amazing. Memphis in my opinion will get pumbled tonight.

UCLA will have their hands full. And I will ge honest I really thought that Texas was going to be here and it would be a revenge game for the Bruins. If UCLA can slow the game down and force their style they can win. If they try to keep up with Memphis its going to get UGLY for the bruins real fast.

I agree it will be NC and Memphis in the final, but I don't dare to predict who prevails. The Lawson, Rose matchup will tell the tale.

I have Kansas over UCLA in my bracket finals but now it looks like it's anyone's title. People can say that NC is far superior to Kansas but that is completely false. NC is more consistent but when Kansas is playing their best ball they are unstoppable. All three of these final games are going to be about who shows up and catches fire.

Yes Memphis is a very talented team. They should take out UCLA. But as a Tarheel fan I hope they bothplay and I hope Memphis will attempt to run with the Tarheels. So the final score could be the highest ever in a championship game. Oh yeah, with the Tarheels winning it all. I hope!!!

Memphis??
Give me a break! They will by singing the blues IF they get by UCLA.
Didn't they get beat by Tennessee who then lost to Arkansas? UNC crushed Arkansas. It's too bad that Memphis is in one of those divisions that struggle when they play "Sisters of Mercy College". It was nice of them to keep the #1 ranking warm for about 24 hrs until a real school could ascend to their rightfull place.

Going by this Oklahoma State should be in the final four. We beat Kansas so we are obviously a final four caliber team...Get real. This is college basketball. Tennessee beat Memphis yet loses to Arkansas who in turn got crushed by UNC which makes UNC #1 awesome...? Do you understand how illogical this sounds? I would think as a UNC fan you could come up with a more convincing argument than this.

Spade, there have been many UNC fans making that claim. I guess it's mostly on other boards. Sorry for crossing threads. Anyways, as far as intelligent life making this statement....we'll find out in a few hours. I can't wait. I'm hoping for two great games tonight.
