We looked pretty good tonight. Ankiel was sharp, Pujols looked his usual aggressive self. What are your thoughts on our pitching?
The Cubs dropping two in a row is fantastic!

The pitching looks great so far(we have the best pitching coach in baseball), I hope it can hold up until the big boys come off the DL. It s allways great when the Cubs lose especially when the so-called experts pick them to take the central year in and year out. I hope Glaus heats up soon though, its still very early I just hope he stays healthy. It already looks like we got the better end of that trade with Rolen taking his annual spot on the DL.

My opinion on pitching, don;t pitch Franklin the rest of the year. Ankiel and Ludwick both looked really good tonight at the plate, ankiel's catch on Taveras was Edmonds like. How about Washingtion, 11 year minor leaguer makes the team out of spring and hits a pinch-hit RBI double for his first ML hit and RBI to jumpstart that 8th inning, big win tonight.

Good all around win tonight. Timely hitting, good starting pitching, and good defense...very nice to watch. Ankiel looks like he is going to turn into a all-star. I sure hope the Cardinals lock him up long term when it comes time to renew his contract. Just need to get Glaus going to help the middle of our lineup. Ludwick being his oldself, get a late start and coming through like he did all of last year. Duncan better watch out because if Ludwick keeps producing while he is hurt it will be tough to take Luddy out of the lineup. Great win. Go Cards!!!

Yeah, Washington's hit was pretty sweat, his story made it better. Good point. Did you see his interview? He was very excited to win. Glaus has made contact deep a few times, so he is just finding his swing. Has he been striking out?

Dont be suprised if McClellan rises up to the setup man spot this year just like Wainwright did in the 06 season. I cant wait till this guy becomes a starter in the future. The bullpen is the right spot for him now though. I really like Ron Villone. He is capable of facing more than 1 batter like today but he is the matchup lefty on the team for right now.
So far our starters have 10 IP, 1 ER, vs. one of the best lineups in baseball. Hopefully Brad can keep this up tomm. Hopefully we are back to the power surge days in the middle of the order Pujols, Glaus, Ank, Lud, and Molina can all take you deep. I am not worried about Glaus but we should consider batting Ank 4 and Glaus 5 on most nights if Rick keeps hitting like this.
Please give Barton a start! I wanna see what he can do!!!
Big win today, lets finish off this series thurs. with a W!

I'm honestly surprised TLR hasn't gone with Albert-Ankiel-Glaus-Duncan as his lineup yet... he's always been known to go righty-lefty-righty-etc... in an attempt to stop the opposing manager from being able to bring in one guy to face a string of lefties or righties late in the game.
Obviously, that's only going to be successful against RHPs until Duncan shows he can hit LHP, but until then, Ludwick showed tonight that he can hit. This team just has so much potential in the OF - it'll be fun to see how they all turn out.
I'm hoping this kind of pitching holds up... nothing like lights out pitching to shut up all of the "professional sports writers" who picked the Cubbies and Brewers because of their "amazing pitching." Even if this team doesn't win this year, the Cardinals will be dominant for years to come.

I have said it before and I'll say it again... Names on paper don't win games. This is going to be a very good year.

I dont care what anyone says, Ankiel is an amazing player. Its hard to find a guy with the heart he has for the game and the story he has. An awesome player, easily one of my favorite players in the game by far.

I am excited about Ankiel too. He was 3-4 with 2 RBI's, 2 runs scored, and a tie breaking homerun in the 4th. Ludwick is another guy who I hope does well this year. We were no joke in spring, and I especially like the names on paper don't win championships stated by someone earlier in the thread.
Too much rain today to play???

Great win last night. Was entertaining to see it come together. Our starting pitiching has been awesome, and yes I might actually be eating crow on my post from back in February, but I will admit it. I was just kinda frustrated that we weren't making offers to shore up the pitiching staff, but this might actually turn out. What a sweet story on Washington and McClellan. By the way. I"m stuck in northeast MO, what is it doing in the LOU weather wise right now?? I sure hope we can play today.

The Cardinals are looking good right now. I have been excited to see what this young OF can do since the trade of Edmonds. I think there is a lot of good moving parts right now. This will be a great year of experience building and, the way things are going, we have a shot at something special if the pitching holds up and some of our DL starters come back healthy.

It just stopped raining, but it is supposed to rain all day with some thunderstorms. It doesn't look good for playing a game, but we'll see. The pitching is coming around I agree, and when we get some of our hurt guys back; Mulder and Clement we should be good to go. Even if we need to use Clement or Mulder as mid-relief to sustain them the rest of the year that would be fine. TLR is going with no less then 4 pitchers a game, and when we decide to unload Izzy and his 8$mil a year and bring up Perez, who is a stud closer, we're going to be able to put on a run with the Brewers and Cubs. Just love the 0-2 start in Chicago. Can't get enough of it, too funny!
