This thread had been around for 2 1/2 years and was lost due to a technical glitch and the age of the posts.  It was NOT an administrative decision to remove the thread.  They were not able to restore it.

The work of the last 2 1/2 years has been lost, but we can re-enter it as members ask for it.

For those of you on the College Football thread who are not participants in the Prayers thread, I assure you that as you continue your posts on the College Football topics, this Prayers topic will drop off your list and be available to the people who do want to participate through their Messages on their Profiles.  The thread is not meant to disrupt your discussions nor to create converts.  It has always been a place where anyone could drop in to ask for encouragement, give encouragement, and be supportive to school age students, college students, and adults in areas that may or may not involve sports or life issues of any kind.

We are not here to debate or invite dispute.  We already know that there are members who are tired of seeing threads with religious content.  Please feel free to ignore us, we will be absorbed into the profiles of people who choose to post and we will be out of your way as your topics increase.  Anyone is welcome to be supportive; no one needs to be offended or argumentative.  After 2 1/2 years, we seek only to give and receive encouragement; we choose to do this from a Christian point of view.

Let me be the first to ask for prayer

Where to start .... A lot of prayer needed.

1. A good friend of mine (Chris) from bible study (a cop in his 30's) has had the left side of his face basically go paralize on him. Can't shut the eye, and one side of his face droops. He has had this before, but never like this. He is going to the doctor today.

2. Another friend from bible study (Tina) was laid off from work yesterday. Her and her husaband have 6 mouths to feed (or more), and on top of that they were going to see her grandmother after work yesterday because she was not doing good, and the grandmother died shortly after that.

3. My sister-in-law (Chantil) was just diagnosed with a degenerative L2/L3/L4 in her back. She is only 30ish, and has been in chronic pain. They are going to try therapy and things other than sugery to see if they will work.

4. Lastly ... My wife (Marci) is having surgery tomorrow to remove a cist on her ovary that has been there for quite some time. She will be taking pills tonight to dialate her cervix (as if she was giving birth), and it may be a very uncomfortable night with alot of pain. She is very anxious right now. She has had problems with what I would call slight demoraging for over a decade, but kept getting dismissed by the doctors. God led her to this doctor that took a personal interest, and found the problem.

Thank you in advance for all and any prayer,

Tony

My prayers are with you and your family. My wife had cryosurgery about 12 years ago and has not had any problems since.  It is a pretty common procedure now and she should be fine.

Aboy,

As always, you and your family and friends will have their needs added to my prayers.

I would like to suggest that those of us who pray keep a prayer journal so if threads get lost, we know that others are still lifting us up.  Just a thought!

Lord, we lift Chris, Chantil, Tina, Tony, and Marci to You for healing, comfort, peace, and strength.  You know the needs of each one and how best those needs will be met.  Guide the hands of the health care workers and give them knowledge; speak peace to the spirits of each who is in pain and bring relief and resolution to their problems.  Help them find solutions to gaining the needs of this world in jobs and finances.  Give comfort to those who grieve the loss of loved ones.  Let the peace that passes all understanding guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Amen.

Blessings to all who come here to read, to post, and to pray.  May the God of peace be with you all and it's good to see you all again.  Welcome to those of you I have not yet met.  Let us not grow weary of doing good!

Keepitreal (KIR)

Let me say that I am a sinner.  I fail to meet the glory that is God.  I am flawed.

Many times in the last 5 years, God has lifted me on his shoulders and carried when I could not find the strength......he allowed me to tie a knot in my rope and to hang on........until I stopped harvesting the bad karma.

Now, the karma is good, and thanks for God's generosity, I am looking forward to a future.......with more time with my son, and more chances to be a father.

God, I thank you, and please watch over my new friends, and his wife and other cherished friends, as they go through the trials of that thing called life.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27
"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize?  Run in such a way that you may obtain it.  And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things.  Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.  Therefore I run thus:  not with uncertainty.  Thus I fight:  not as one beating the air.  But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified."

When Paul wrote this passage, he made it obvious that our lives include competition.  We may compete in sporting events that require physical discipline and training.  As we compete for intellectual, emotional, and spiritual strength, we apply the same rules:  discipline and training.  The football or basketball player who waits to catch a pass and is uncertain reduces his chance of success.  Confidence is required.  Know what you are confident in so that when you are to compete, you will not be hesitant, but will compete with high quality.  We discipline our minds as well as our bodies or we will not be ready for the next 'play'--in our sport or in our lives.

In some competitions, we will win; in others, we will lose, but learn what to correct what was lacking.  And in all, we will gain the strength of mind and body needed to compete for prizes in this life, which God knows we need and has provided for us to obtain but sometimes only after a time of disciplining and conditioning.  We will also gain the knowledge during our conditioning of how to obtain the imperishable crown.  It will not always be easy, but we will not be competing alone if we are seeking the certainty taught by God.

KIR,

do not doubt for a minute that the dark one has been at it again and really doesn't want people to receive the help and restoration of prayer. Some of his minions either work for or around this board and did what hey could to eliminate this bastion of hope to those in need of prayer.

I only say that was another failed attempt.

How can anyone believe because you stop the word one place that it will cease to exist in others? Peace will come again in the will of God and the grace of His understanding. Forgive those who have done evil against those most in need, for they too are also in need, even if they do not realize it.

KIR thanks for starting this again and for the Theology thread, where Christian warriors go to battle each day, knowing they make no headway. I must also thank SBC for his why I became a Christian thread. There are many who believe in the will of God and the resurrection of the Christ, but the forces of darkness gather in many places, even in the open to try to stiffle those beliefs. Blessed be those who walk here in the sight of God and though the church be torn assunder in its previous place, we return to make it over again. I move to my back pew again and listen for the words of wisdom, faith, and peace. Bless all who enter this place, amen.
