What is this about DC leaving?! Sosa transfering?! When did this come about? Has it beenin the newspapers? Is it official? Geeez, ive been lost the past few days.

DC made it official right after the North Carolina loss....a loss in which he didn't play in the second half due to a moment in the 1st half where he didn't get a call and pouted about it while Psycho-T hustled to the other end for a dunk.

Sosa has just been in Pitino's dog house so much, we think he may transfer.  I don't personally want him to....but I want him to grow up.  I don't know how likely that is.

Coach P has said for a while that DC was leaving for the pro's (most likely NBDL or Europe).  This isn't anything new since DC has also said this himself.  I believe DC is getting info that he is good enough to go pro from people that want to live off him and can't wait.  Anyway, I am not sure about Sosa but I believe he will stay.  We do look good for the incoming yr and I hope we don't skip a beat.

OFFICIALY I don't think DC has left, although by the statement he made immediatly after the NC game, it sounded like he was gone, or getting ready to leave.  But UL, to my knowledge hasn't made any official announcement.

I believe Sosa is just being told he needs to step and become the player that Pitino needs him to be. I think Rick is done coddling Sosa. From here on out it will a tough love.

In some ways Garcia was the same  way, but with 10 times the talent and ability level. He would pout, he would throw fits. Pitino would bench him, talk to him, rip his butt when needed, and Cisco would respond.
Sosa just  hasn't responded the way Pitino wants, and the  team wants.

I agree with Ewinter and several others that SOsa has the Potential to be a stud. Could be a very important piece of the 08-09 team.  WE could certainly use his talent to give us more depth.

Lighting a candle, saying a prayer, that God opens the eyes of his heart and head, and  helps Sosa see the light. That he puts away his selfish ways, grows up and starts really using his talents.

Well said Russ.  Sosa has stud talent, however we don't often see it.  My memory tells me that he wasn't a bad defensive player as a freshman.  This season though he seemed to react more than anticipate.  If he notches up on defense and looks to help others more on offense, I believe we will see one heck of a U of L ballplayer his last two years.

I believe the Godfather is giving DC the Rodrick Rhodes treatment. A nice pat on the back and a swift kick in the rear. Let's not kid ourselves guys, DC has all the potential in the world but he has reached his limit with his attiude and he is a headache and a cancerous personality. I wish him well.

I would have to say the same thing about Sosa.  I don't see him beating out McGee for the starting job next year.  No way.  Not after the way McGee played downt he stretch and in the tournament.  He is our best three point shooter and protects the ball far better than Sosa.  Plus Sosa plays defense like a Matador.  When he is in the game our press is basically worthless.  We absolutely never get a trap in the backcourt with Sosa in the game.

Just thinking back to the North Carolina game when McGee hit that long three from the wing and another time stripped Hansbrough of the ball.  Sosa just never makes the right play.  He doesn't grasp the concept fo playing hard on every play.  Ty Lawson was basiclally supposed to kill us and did anything but during that game.  Read the stats on our guards and for the UNC game and McGee and Smith outplayed Lawson and Ellington.  What lost the game for us was the 10 offensive rebounds we gave up in the first half.

Like Pitino said to Sosa, "We don't need you."

Let Sosa leave. He pouts so much all he does is bring everyone else down with him. I'd rather have Lee Steiden running the point, at least he would be positive and not cry like a baby when he doesn't get a call or plays bad. That's why I love Preston Knowles. I thought he was awful against Tennessee but he kept playing hard and rooting on his teammates. I'd take that any day as a coach over "potential." Sosa played one great game that we still lost and people still want to hang on to him.

Somebody tell Caracter that he will be the starting center as a junior for a top 15 team next year please. Does he know that? WHAT IS HE THINKING!!!! I know he is trying the pros but it is such a bad decision. 2 more years of coaching from Pitino would get him in the NBA. Playing in Korea will not! It makes me upset because it's all right in front of him and UL could really use him next year. His teammates love him too. CARACTER COME BACK FOR ONE MORE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!

Tony,  I disagree. UL does not need him next year. If he were here, he'd serve the same role; rest minutes for other bigs. The incoming talent will more than balance out the loss of DC.

Like others posted above, this is all moot discussion anyway.  Coach said months ago that DC is gone, end of story.

And YES...   Louisville will be in the Final Four next year!

You're right we don't NEED him. But it couldn't hurt. Our incoming big men are good but they are freshman. There are exceptions like Love and Beasley, good big guy freshmans, but for the most part we need some experience down low. And you're right this is a pointless conversation. Caracter told a reporter the day before the UNC game that this was it for him. He reminds me of Carlos Hurt. So much talent coming in to UL and leaving with nothing.
