I'm excited for next season.  Xavier has a great core of players coming back (and correct me if I'm wrong):

C.J. Anderson (10.6 ppg)
Derrick Brown (10.7 ppg)
Dante Jackson (2.4 ppg) <---I know he'll a great player
Jason Love (6.2 ppg)
B.J. Raymond (10.3 ppg)

Plus with the addition of the new recruits (especially Kenny Frease), Xavier will be making noise in the country next year again. I think we'll make the NCAA's again and have over 20 wins...once again.

Any Thoughts about next year??

I'd say anything under 20 wins would be a disappointment for next season. What made the three seniors so great and valuable this season was the experience they brought to the table and every person you listed now has that experience playing elite teams on the national stage in the tournament. Not to mention the IU vacancy has just been filled, so we will have a great group coming back as well as a great coach. I'm already looking forward to it...

We have some great players coming back, but the only question that I have is whether or not we have someone to take Lavender's place. If someone can fill the PG position pretty well, I think we have a decent chance to compete for the A-10 Championship. I am very interested to see how our new recruits can do.

Next year will be interesting. As a previous poster stated, we need to be able to figure out the point guard position and the freshmen need to mature. Frease, Lyons, and Redford can all contribute, but they need to find their place on this team. I think Jamel McClean will make the the most immediate impact. He has played on the division 1 level before so he knows how to play with the big boys.

I expect a 5 or 6 seed, and a hopeful return to the sweet 16.

2008-2009 Roster

Andrew Taylor (Sophomore - Forward) transfer from Hilldale able to play 2008-2009

Jamel McLean (Sophomore - Forward) transfer from Tulsa able to play 2008-2009

Kenny Frease (Freshman - Forward) ranked #9 HS Senior Center

Mark Lyons (Freshman - Guard) ranked #27 HS Senior Point Guard

Brad Redford (Freshman - Guard) ranked #31 HS Senior Point Guard

Brian Walsh (Freshman - Guard) ranked #29 HS Senior Shooting Guard

Stephen Duckett (Sophomore - Guard) walk on

Joe Hughes (Sophomore - Forward) walk on

Dante' Jackson (Sophomore - Guard)

Adrion Graves (Junior - Guard)

Jason Love (Junior - Forward)

Derrick Brown (Junior - Forward)

Charles Bronson (Senior - Forward)

C.J. Anderson (Senior - Forward)

B.J. Raymond (Senior - Forward/Guard)

How many players are aloud on a roster?  That is 15 players for 2008-2009.   If that is too many I assume the walk ons Duckett and Hughes will be asked to leave the team.

I can totally see a couple of these players not returning next season: Bronson, Graves, Duckett, Hughes
