Congratulations to all the fans of the LSU Tigers on your team's 38-24 victory to win the National Title, and the first 2 loss team since the Minnesota Gophers to have won it. I haven't been on since January 1 so I haven't had a chance to post this thread. I kept on forgetting about it. That was a hard fought and well deserved win. Ohio State did prove to be a formidable opponent, and the stats show an evenly played game, but their inexperience and mistakes such as the the 7 personal fouls and three turnovers kept them from really making a run for the win.

LSU's critical edge in that matchup was the overall experience of the team, having many seniors in the right areas, such as Glenn Dorsey on the defensive line and Matt Flynn at quarterback. This year, they have enough experience and talent to make a run for a repeat national title, but it will tough if Ryan Perrilloux doesn't get his act together. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Buckeyes had 10-0 lead and LSU had negative yardage on offense, which had me thinking that OSU had a legitimate defense but I was thinking how long they could keep it up. On LSU next possession after that, they started to move the ball, and OSU's defense helped with 2 personal fouls that led to the score. After the 10-10 score, OSU seemed to have gotten a strike for the TD to take the lead again, but the WR dropped the sure TD and LSU blocked the FG try. After that, it was all LSU for the rest of the half.

The second half was evenly played as each team scored 14 points, but OSU knew they had to score 28 points in the half otherwise they would lose,  and LSU's defense kept them in check. Beanie Wells played extremely in the first half, knocking out one defensivemen on one of his big runs, but the second half it seemed Dorsey caused an ankle sprain for the star RB and Hester outplayed Wells in the second half.

LSU showed extraoridinary resilience after the falling behind in the 1st quarter, and they were a truly deserving national champion.

ROAR! LSU Tigers: National Champions of NCAAF 2007

One more thing: the SEC was truly the toughest conference in the year 2007 by a longshot.

One note of interest was that 7 of 8 power sets had LSU undefeated in 2007, but it was funny that they got 2 losses and won the title anyway. There was much parity last year in college football. The Trojans had 3 of 8 power sets having them undefeated, and Ohio State only had 1 of 8 power sets having them going undefeated. This year, I'll post on the boards of the teams that have the best power ratings of going undefeated. Good luck.
