I have absolutely nothing against Carolina, in fact I have always found them easier to root for than some of the other college BB powerhouses. However, the absolute lovefest with Hansbrough is enough to make you sick. The guy is great, but the announcers need to pull their collective pants up and call the game! I wonder how many posters of Hansbrough Bilas has in his hotel room. They make you want to hate a guy who you should absolutely root for.

Thanks for the forum to vent....

Return to your normal programming...

Go everyone!

there are to many reasons for the "lovefest" to name, lets start with being the second leading scorer in unc history as a junior.  can you count the names of the great players to come before him at chapel hill to never achieve what he has.  secondly lets talk about the high regard he has for his school and the game of basketball on the collegiate level.  this kid brings excitement to the game and plays it like it should be.  stick to football.

I get  what makes him a great player, genius, I am quite capable of understanding that. What I can't stand is the constant "pedestal" the media puts these guys on. They go from admiration to obnoxious reverance. Yes he plays the game the right way, yes he has accomplished more than many great UNC players, yes he plays 100% every play, I get all that and I enjoy watching him. My point was I don't need to hear it every single play of of a 40 munute game. I don't need to stick to football to comprehend that.

Yes, I can agree with you Badger to an extent, however, if you lived in Charlotte, NC and were surrounded by these UNC fans, or at least lived  in the Carolinas and Virginia(i was born in VA, now live in Charlotte) and you were NOT a Carolina fan, than you would understand that the hatred does not come from the media. I would say most, about 90%, comes from UNC fans. I try to be polite as can be, but they are absolutely obnoxious and arrogant and that is where my distaste for them comes from.

I will admit one thing about the media here in Charlotte, if I did not know how to get to the Charlotte 49ers sports website, I would never get any information about them, in fact, I dont think many people realize there is a DI program and major university here in Charlotte, all you ever hear about is Carolina or Duke.

Whew! OK, now I am done venting...... for now. =)

I totaly agree, but at the same time wish not to root for anything North Carolina. Watching the games over the last 2 weeks and just by listening to these anouncers/media praise for Davidsons Curry, UCLAs Love, Memphis's Rose and UNCs Hansbrough, you never hear them over do it for any of the Kansas players, and thats ok. We Kansas fans like to see the big man fall. I just wish the media would give Kansas some respect every now and then.

Same thing happens in Greensboro with UNCG. You wouldn't evenknow they even play intercollegiate sports unless you hunt for it in the N&R.

Mainly because besides maybe rush you guys do not have one focal star, just a team of really good players.

The media indeed makes you want hate certain players. If I wasn't a Tarheel fan I would probably feel disgusted as well. The kid is tough and gritty, any team would benefit from having a guy like that but give us all a break. It's not his fault though. He's doesn't seem to be a guy who looks for the media attention or self promotes. I wish him all the best  and hope he comes back for one more season.

There is no doubt that Tyler H. is a good player. I do have a problem with the the fact that, in my opinion, he plays dirty/cheap. Is it good strategy to draw fouls - and on both sides of the court - constantly? Sure! Is it cheap? Yes! Is this practice used by many teams, and many players? Yes, but Tyler is the king of this cheap method. Everyone notes his high scoring totals - but how many of those points are from free throws. As a junior he has shot more free throws than any other player in UNC history. This year he led the ACC in free throw shooting. His standard move? Jump into the defender, double pump, draw the foul, and lay it up. Effective? Yes! Cheapness similar to that of a boxer who hits the other guy below the belt? Yes! This type of play is eroding the quality of the game of basketball. I don't want to watch a guy flop all over the floor, hoping to draw the foul. Cheap!

you know what else is enough to make me sick? the backlash against hansbrough by all these people who think they know something or that feel they are on some high ground and should bash hansbrough just because the media glorifies him.

we all know hansbrough is the media's darling.
we all know its obsessive, and at times it is definitely too much.
youre not telling us anything we havent heard before.

and travisthomas, watch hansbrough play, he doesnt flop anymore than any other player. he just has an awkward playing style. this type of play isnt ruining basketball. the refs who bail out flopping are ruining basketball. and dont even try to compare it to boxers hitting below the belt. No!

You are insane Ftballgenius Hansbrough is by far the best player on the team. I think he has played very well in big games. He might not have done much in that game but he is an extremley good player. As for Green being the best player on the team I don't even know what makes you think that's true. Carolina can win without Green they would have a very hard time winning without Hansbrough.
