i have new confidence that our new manager and front office will get the best performance out of the 25 players they are working with.

so what is our rotation now?

oswalt, backe, rodriguez, chacon, sampson?  sounds like our middle relievers will be getting lotsa innings...

Maybe so, but he was still a far safer bet to have a quality start than Jennings was last year, so.... don't be too hard on the old guy. He just wanted his "last hurrah with the hometown team" like Pettitte and Clemens got... just didn't work out as well for him is all.

Of course. I don't have any malice towards Woody; it's towards our management for making the stupid signing.

Unless a player is cancer in the clubhouse or just has a terrible attitude, I have no beef with them. I'm sure they're trying their hardest, and I damn sure couldn't do it any better than them (although I think I could give up less home runs than Villarreal...).

But we do have the right to rag on our management, because they're supposed to know more than us about baseball. And it seriously makes me wonder why we'd pay a fly-ball pitcher who pitched in the ultimate pitcher's park last year and had terrible road splits $6 million per year.

Oh, of course. But I was responding to someone saying Woody was the worst FA signing or whatever.

At least all we lost was money (and some games).

We lost Taveras and Hirsch for Jennings. That was FAR worse a moment for management is all I'm saying... getting Jennings... than was signing Woody.
