You can't judge defense solely based on PPG.  That stat is practically meaningless.  The Nuggets play fast and shoot quickly, meaning the opponent is going to get a lot more possessions per game.  The only way you can really judge defense is by points per possession.  In this category, the Nuggets are 11th in the NBA.  They have the ability to be better but they're not as bad as everyone thinks.  And they're just 10th in points per possession on offense.  So the offense isn't much better than the D.  They have a ton of ability on offense, but the bad ball movement and bad shots they take in some games can cost them.

So my question to you is this. Who do you blame?  The coach or the players?  The Nuggets have been this way and we have the same players, add one here, subtract one there, but the core stays the same.  Ball movement is key for any offense and open looks really help out.  But when you are play defence you have to put a hand in the shooters face.  We are always getting caught flat footed on "D" and some of the time we only drop three on "D".  That is the defense I think everyone is talking about.

Hmmm... I blame AI. If we are saying the speed of the offense is why their opponents are getting so many possessions, then AI is the problem there. He's putting up ridiculous points again this season, as always, but he also takes incredibly bad shots He also seems to forget that the offense should be running through Carmelo Anthony. He's big, strong, and polished. He has the ability to punish smaller defenders down low and is explosive enough to get to the hoop....This would slow the offense down (which seems to be what the first person says is why they give up so many points -- lots of possessions for both teams).

Then again, Anthony has the size and ability to rebound better than he does, and this would help on both ends. Although I think Anthony is a sniper, he hasn't quite lived up to his potential. He's got the abilities to be a complete ballplayer and still a dominant point scorer, but he just doesn't seem to want it badly enough.

if the Nuggets D can step it up and and hold their oppenents to under 100 points each game they should easily make the playoffs. . . and they could be a big threat if they play to how they are capable to playing. and every one knows that AI and Melo will step it up in the post season
