I've been sitting around waiting for the season to start since the last game last year. I was excited to see the boys play .500+ baseball in the second half of last season and think that they have a good shot at playing it all season. A good April would be nice for a change.

90 games...does anybody besides me think that is possible?

Predictions for Gordon...25 to 30 HR's and 90 to 100 RBI?

Somebody give me more reasons for hope before we play some real ball!!!

I really don't see them winning 90. if they can get to .500 i'd be happy this year. this is a young team with a lot of promise. just don't think they are there yet.  Gordon is capable of hitting those marks, though i think he may still be a year away from really proving what he can do.

Although I'd love to see it happen, it's a little bit of a stretch to expect it.  .500 is realistic, though, and maybe 20 homeruns by Gordon.

I feel that everything will come down to pitching.  The Royals should be better offensively, everybody agrees on that.  If Meche, Banny and Greinke all pitch like they did last year, I could see 85 wins as a possibility.  If even one of them tanks, I could see 75 or fewer wins as a very real situation.

I agree that pitching could be a problem. It's always a problem when you can't spend big money to get, and keep, a true ace or 2.

However, if the line-up can produce consistant run support our pitchers won't have to feel like they have to pitch a great game every outing. Taking that kind of pressure off can't hurt.

I agree it all comes down to pitching. Our offense has looked impressive and is vastly improved. This will not be the anemic offense of the past. Hopefully, with run support, our starters and bullpen will gain confidence and give us solid outings.
That being said, Meche getting lit up the other night doesn't inspire much confidence. I'm very excited to see what this young team can get going with Hillman at the helm.

Actually, I have them winning 103 games, with Gordon hitting .372 with 52 dingers...

C'mon, man. I'm excited for the season, too, but be realistic. I expect them to improve this year, especially our core of young players. And when our next couple #1 picks are ready, who knows?

I don't think anyone in the Central will win 90. Too tough a division, in my much-less-than-expert opinion.

Right now the Royals are on pace to win 162 games...AND Gordon is on pace for 162 and 324...gives us some room to fall off even!!
