I agree with some of Judge's calls for this division but here's my take.

Carolina Panthers
The Panthers definitely need help for Steve Smith and if Malcolm Kelly is available the will grab him with a quickness. Otherwise a Derrick Harvey of Florida or Jeff Otah of Pittsburgh are good fits for this team. I do see them filling the safety spot, but there are quite a few prospects at free safety. But regardless they will be happy with any of those three guys above.

This is a win or you're out year for John Fox. He needs a healthy Jake Delhomme and they have a chance in this division.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Picking at 20 I think they will just go for the best pure athlete that fills one of their needs. If Limas Sweed is available the Bucs will take him but he should be gone. If it is close I wouldn't be surprised if they move up to snag him. If he is gone look for them to go for a CB - either Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie or Mike Jenkins.

Atlanta Falcons

What doesn't this team need. These guys need a lot of draft picks but obviously can't solve everything in this draft. With Michael Vick out of the league and in jail a QB is a huge need.

I'm personally not sold on Matt Ryan. I would rather take Jake Long who will be a stud on the offensive line for years to come. The smart thing to do is trade this pick to someone who really wants Darren McFadden and get a few extra picks. Plus with trading DeAngelo Hall they need help in the secondary.

Brandon Flowers from Virginia Tech could fill that need in the second or third round depending on how fast CBs start coming off the board. Or they could take a chance at Joe Flacco, Chad Henne or John David Booty in the later rounds too. Flacco should go in the second round so that could help them and they wouldn't have to pay first round money for a possible franchise QB.

New Orleans

Picking 10th isn't too shabby for a team that has a lot of potential. If Sedrick Ellis from USC is on the board they should take him but there is a good chance he'll be gone.

If so Keith Rivers paired up with Johnathan Vilma would make a pretty solid line backing corps.

They could shore up their O-line with Jeff Otah or Chris Williams but this might be too soon for them. Mike Jenkins could be another guy they have their eye on or roll the dice on
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. They did make a some moves in free agency so the more picks they get the more wholes they can fill.

I guess if I had to choose for them I'd go for Rivers but it all depends on what they think their biggest need is come draft day.

Everybody says the Panthers need help for Steve Smith.... and, for some reason, I don't think any of them know that they signed both Muhsin Muhammad and DJ Hackett.

As Jambrose just stated, do any of these writers look at free agent pickups?  The Panthers have a great 3 WR set at the moment, and if Jarett figures himself out, they will have a great 4 set, and DeAngelo Williams is now our feature back, so we don't need a running back to take the load off of Delhomme, we need linemen, bottom line.  Harvey seems the most appropriate at the moment.

Are you calling Muhammad and Hackett long-term solutions?? Heck no. But the Panthers might be able to snag Early Doucett in Round 2 or 3. Get one or two blocker to help Williams get to daylight, and the defense improves because that unit's not on the field so much. All the Panthers really needed was 2-3 first downs and 1-2 stops per game and they would have been 8-8. The team does have SERIOUS depth issues in a lot of spots, but the first unit is strong on both sides of the ball. If they stay healthy, which hasn't happened in 2006 or 2007.

If Hackett stays healthy he can be a solution for a few years and my take is that these guys where brought in to give the staff time to work with jarret(he has talent but hes not very smart so it could take awhile). He is suppose to be a longterm solution but if he keeps up the way he is going that could be a long shot.

Yeah. We drafted Dewayne Jarrett, and he hasnt pan out to much so far. With Mushin Muhammad, D.J. Hackett, Ryan Robinson (I like this kid) on the roster, I dont see any room for another rookie trying to slide in. Considering the Panthers have D.J. Hackett practically starting outside of Steve Smith, Muhammad, Jarrett and Robinson in the slot, and lets not forget former 1st rounder Travis Taylor on the roster, I dont think the Cats need another WR unless they get rid of Jarrett or Robinson, and considering how they are high on Robinson and Dewayne Jarrett is Dewayne Jarrett, they are not gonna take anything away from them. If anything, it would be a TE we would get.

The obvious need is a safety. And OT. Considering how Fox and Hurney talked alot about getting a OT, I am gonna say Williams from Vandy or Ryan Clady from Boise State. The question I am wanting to know is how are they going to fill in our 3 key spots with the first 2 picks. Go OT and Safety? Go DE the OT? Go OT and DE? Its more or less what we need more, I am wanting to know so badly how this plays out. Yes, rip me for saying this, but I personally dont think DE is that big of a need. As I said on countless other posts, we drafted Charles Johnson, we have Stanley McClover who was getting some time, and we picked up Tyler Brayton. Do they get yet another DE for three straight seasons or let one of the guys develop?

But again, WR. We dont really need it. Unless he is a good, young, and proven WR in the Free Agency. Long term solution? Maybe not. But the Panthers have what they need for at least this upcoming season.

I think the panters big need is OL.  They just picked up Mushim and Hackett, but they can't run or pass protect.

the Falcons need help everywhere I think QB is definate.
