No offense packman30, but the Badgers didnt stop Beasley(23 points and 13rebounds). And Walker had 18 w/ 6 rebounds. The rest of the team is what the Badgers stopped with that great defense you guys have. So technically Kellogg was right, except that was dumb of him to pick KState to win. I def had the Badgers winning that game b/c a one man show like Beasley can only take a team so far.
Good luck against Davidson. You wont stop Curry, but you probably will contain him. There is a big difference between stopping someone and containing a great talent.

Well-deserved props for Clark Kellogg. But who really cares about what types of predictions he makes?!? The point is that he makes them in an articulate, insightful, and humble manner. And most importantly, he focuses on the positive aspects of the teams/players and doesn't bog the broadcast down in negativity the way some of his colleagues do.
And as much as it pains me to say it, I also really appreciate Jay Bilas and Gminski as analysts/commentators. For a Terrapin to compliment a couple of Blue Devils, you know they must be good.
Finally, Seth Davis has taken it on the chin big-time on this thread, and deservedly so. One guy who might be even more annoying is Doug Gottlieb on ESPN. Talk about a fragile ego...God forbid you don't agree with something the guy says. Don't take it all so seriously, Doug...it's just a game, after all.

Good post. I like Clark. I also have a problem with Davis. Anyone who gets so indignant about bubble teams getting in/ not getting in needs to get off the high horse (Bilas, Gottlieb, Digger, and pretty much everyone else on ESPN are also culprits).
Are you glad So. Alabama got in Seth? That's all I heard about during their conference tourney coverage. How'd they do? The amount of whining about teams that didn't do enough to get in drives me crazy. Who cares about team #66, or #65 for that matter? I don't mind Nova, but we won't see them in San Antonio.
Like their coverage of pretty much everything else, ESPN's college hoops coverage makes my ears bleed. It's great Vitale isn't announcing, but there he is rehashing the glory days with Digger, while they stroke eachothers' massive egos. Every time I accidentally turn it on, I think an angel loses its jock strap.
It's a good change of pace to listen to Clark, and his understated and intelligent analysis. Who cares if he picks all #1 seeds? Anyone who cares who a pundit picks in a particular game needs to reassess their sensitivities.

no pacman, he won't pick davidson because he only picks the top seed. I agree with you guys that he is a good analyst, but you cant fill out a bracket and pick every top seed to win. At least Seth Davis picked some of the upsets and got them right like davidson over gtown and siena over vandy.

Funny - they both went to Duke, but Bilas exceeded and actually continued as a grad. assistant coach to Coach K while getting his law degree at Duke.
He's smart enough to do that, he's smart enough for good analysis and speech...
I have no idea how Davis did

I, too, like Clark Kellogg's insight and analysis. Both Bilas and Davis can pound sand, as far as I'm concerned. At least we don't have to listen to Bobby Knight on CBS. What a bunch of hypocrites at ESPN. The guy did nothing but crucify commentators, analysts, and writers for years, then they take him under their fold and let him continue with his self-promotion. And to top it off, they make Digger endure his crap and has Digger pitching for him as the head man back at Indiana. Now, that will NEVER happen. Mark it down. Crawl back under the rock, Loser Knight.

I would like to see a guy like Jay Bilas work with Clark on the broadcast. Both are excellent and can add unique perspective to the games as not only former players, but real students of the game. I could not agree more. I think Bilas and Clark are two of the best in the business. I get so sick of Vitale and the rest of the ESPN/CBS crews. Vitale is all about himself... I can't even listen to a game he is doing anymore. He does not even talk about the game he is doing. All he does is talk about charity this... donate that. Sure, he has done a lot for a lot of good causes, I don't want to hear about it for 2 hours! Did you guys hear him on Mike & Mike talking about how players in basketball should not foul out of games? What an idiot.

Dickie V may be the most annoying person on the planet. Read some of his stuff online, he can't do that either. And no, Dick, Bobby Knight will not be hired by IU, and if he was, why would you be the assistant? Bilas went on a tirade about how Tennessee got screwed for not getting a number one. Come on, does it make that much of a difference, Jay? Knight wanted to expand the field to 128, which would make regular season games completely irrelevant to all Big Six conferences, Gottlieb is a closed-minded buffoon. Digger, Bobby, and Dickie V sit around having coffee-table conversations. The only one I can stand is Hubert Davis. I don't necessarily like him, but I don't hate him. Seth Davis is a joke. Clark K. is decent, I like his analysis.
There, all my beefs with ESPN/CBS. Did I mention Billy Packer???
I know I sound like a pessimist, but hypocritical excuses for analysts doing a job my little broth | |
