Yankees FAR> >> >> Phillies
I agree definately better, but not 5 > >> >> better probably about 3> >> . Im being objective, the strength of our team is offense, and really we cant compete with the yankees offensively...When you can hit Cano 7th that lineup is deadly. Our pitching is pretty doodoo, but i don't think the yanks are much to write home about, but still they are better in the bullpen cause they have a reliable closer, really i think both our 3-4-5 are terrible, and i like hamels and myers...you have youth though which has unlimited potential, we have eaton and moyer...their only potential is maybe having eras under 5.
Blue Jays about = Braves
I can agree with that as well. The braves offense could be very good, and really 1-8 i don't see a spot id rather have the bluejays player other than if rios hits second, but not sure what the blue jays lineup is gonna shake up looking like. Again it comes down to how we are gonna draw the lineups to compare the teams. Either way if we give the braves a dh for arguments sake, or toronto pitchers hit...i think the braves lineup is considerably better. Rotations hinge a lot on health. Halladay, and Burnett get hurt every year it seems, Smoltz is already having shoulder issues which could spell trouble for the braves. Best 3-4-5 for toronto in baseball? Id like to see McGowan and Marcum do it again before i crown them...ditto on Jesse Litsch? Id give the jays the edge in pitching mainly because if ryan is healthy their bullpen should dominate...their 1-2 isnt much better than the braves if its better at all...3 should be better than glavine, a healthy hampton should be just as good as marcum, jurjens has i believe way more upside and potential than litsch.
Rays FAR> > > > > Marlins
Definately, but I think the Nationals will be better than the marlins, either way i like the rays.
Orioles about = Nationals......No chance. The fact you even refered to george sherril in a previous post as a closer should tell you the problems they have all over the place. They are starting Jay Payton, Aubrey Huff, Kevin Millar, and the worst shortstop probably in baseball this year. these aren;t even guys that are relatively young with some upside. Their rotation is just as bad as the nats, maybe more so, because their bullpen could easily be the worst in baseball, while the nats bullpen should at least be respectable. Offensively id take the nationals as well. Markaikis and Roberts are all the orioles got on offense...and roberts will be out the door soon enough leaving just markaikis. Yes i know they got Adam Jones, but the fact that they are hitting him 9th makes me believe perhaps he is a tad on the overrated side...or just not ready. The nats have a lot better mix in my opinion of young talent and vets. I like roberts over whoever leads off for the nats most likely guzman, after that youd be hardpressed to convince me youd take another oriole in the lineup. Markaikis against Zimmerman is pry the closest battle, but i think zimmerman in the new ballpark he is gonna have a bigtime breakout year, whi;e markaikis could struggle without tejada behind him, and potentiall roberts in front of him. Any team hitting Kevin millar 4th and pry Aubrey Huff 5th should just bring up every minor league player they possibly have.

Let's take the top 2 at each everyday position from both divisions and decide which division is stronger position by position. BTW, I voted for the AL East earlier, and not that this little exercise proves a darn thing, I think I'd have to take the NL East based on it. Here's mine:
1B: Ryan Howard/Mark Texiera v. Carlos Pena/Kevin Youkilis
Big Edge NL East
2B: Chase Utley/Luis Castillo v. Robinson Cano/Brian Roberts
Push (I take Utley over anyone at the position in the game, but think the AL East's combo makes it even. 2B is weak in the NL East, other than Utley).
SS: Jimmy Rollins/Hanley Ramirez (sorry, Mets fans) v. Derek Jeter/NA (Wow, the rest really, really stink!!!)
Big Edge NL East
3B: David Wright/Chipper Jones v. A-Rod/Mike Lowell
Slight edge AL East (as much as I like Lowell and recognize the role he played in the Sox winning it last year, I still take both the NL East guys over him)
LF: Moises Alou/Pat Burrell v. Manny Ramirez/C. Crawford
Edge AL East
CF: Carlos Beltran/Shane Victorino v. Vernon Wells/BJ Upton
Slight Edge NL East
RF: Jeff Francoeur/Phillies platoon v. Bobby Abreu/N. Markakis
Edge AL East

Didn't Philly City Council pass a law that anyone who is a fan of any one of the city's Big 4 pro teams has to hate the Buffalo Sabres? I could've sworn I read something about that. You're a scofflaw, philsfan.

however, Hill destroyed johnson in range factor (5.13 to 4.76) and double plays turned (114 to 83)
Range Factor = PO + A/ innings played. Not sure how this is relevant in saying hill is definately a better fielder. I would hope someone playing behind Roy Halladay as often as he got to would have a significantly high range factor...Pry the same reason a guy like cano playing behind wang is so high as well. Doesn't say much about their actual range though.
Double Plays is also a reach to compare the 2. Hill had 200 more chances, and played 250 more innings. If you wanted to say hill was better he gave you the only stat you needed 14 errors a piece despite hill playing considerably more in the field.
Offensively they are pretty similar. Johnson had about a hundred fewer at-bats more runs, triples, steals, walks, better OBP and OPS and OPS+. Hill had more rbis, doubles, average. HR and Slug pretty much identical. For their positions in the lineup they both are good at what they do. Johnson needs to get on base as a leadoff guy, and hill needs to drive in runs as a low end middle lineup 6-7 hitter. I personally like them both, but id rather take johnson. He was a converted outfielder to second baseman, and put up real good numbers as a rookie out of his comfort level in my opinion, defensively we all know its easier to field a ground ball on turf so i would hope hill could be better...14 errors for a guy playing on a relatively flat surface though isn't impressive to me.

Haha AXEMAN,
I hate the sabres with a passion...made an avatar bet on the hockey boards with a sabres fan before the last flyers game...loser had to wear the opposing teams jersey for the rest of the season...I got 5 more games and then it is coming down. 2 other Phillies/flyers fans also lost that bet...if you remember tarkus he is currently sporting a sabres jersey as well...it was a bad day.

Gotcha. I have a similar bet with my Cowboy fan cousins who live in/near Dallas. I know I've never carried through on my end of the bet. I'd rather go to work topless than wear a Cowboys jersey or sweatshirt. Doubt they have, either. But it does make for some fun phone calls after the two teams play each other. They actually sent my dad a Cowboys sweatshirt a few years back. I think he may have worn it to paint or wash the dog or something that would lead to getting dirty, but never in public. I wouldn't even go that far, but my dad got to know Tom Landry when he used to work at a hotel outside Philly where the Cowboys used to stay and really liked the guy. That may explain why my househould hates the Giants more than Dallas.
