I forgot what the exact number was, but i remember statisticians did a study on the effects of a DH, and i think it was something around 4.5% which is the amount of runs on average an average AL team with an average DH would have over an identical NL team, only with an average hitting pitcher instead of an average DH, ceteris paribus. Obviously it can change depending on who the DH is or how good of a hitter the pitchers on the team are, but that's the average

K. Johnson is good but he aint better than A. Hill. And yes we do have the best 3 4 5 pitchers in the game. And as far as offense goes. You lose renteria and wells was hurt all year. Halladay had the most complete games of any pitcher in the game and missed a month. Glavin couldn't even win a game down the stretch which cost the Mets a playoff birth. We talk about hurt. Hampton is worse then burnett. And we are deep on the bench too. Not to mention in the american league we had the 2nd best era. And that's the american league. So how do you figure the Braves pitching is better than the jays.

Heat far be it for me to defend the Brave but you're way off. You can't dicount the Braves pitchers because of Hampton yet overlook Halladay and even more so Burnett when it come to injury. Edge Braves
Huh? This is surprising from you maspeth, as i usually like your posts, but you're way off on this one. Halladay pitched 225 innings last year (3rd in baseball) and even Burnett with all his injuries went 165 innings (and pitched great in those 165 innings). How can you even put that on the same planet as a guy who hasn't pitched a single inning since in the past 2 seasons, and only 69 innings in the past 3 seasons?  Halladay pitched almost as many innings last year as Hampton has in the past 4 years, yet we're supposed to put them on equal planes in terms of injury risks?

No VP don't get me wrong I have no faith in Hampton but have more in Smotlz and Hudson than I do in Halladay and Burnett. Burnett has I believe one season where he went over 200 innings and last year wasn't one of them.

AL EAST easy, the teams, the athletes, the stadiums, even the parking lots are better.  I will give the NL east an edge at 2B and SS, other than that not even close.

This is more a matter of opinion than fact. They are both good, and young. Offensive stats are similar with Walks and SB's going to Johnson while HR's went to Hill by 1 and RBI by 10.  IN 80 more Abs for Hill too.

Johnson had an OBP of 374 while HIll's was 333. Slugging was 459 to 456 in favor of Hill.

It is too close. They are 1 month apart in age.

Defensively Hill had 14 errors with a Fielding % of 983
Johnson had 14 errors and a fielding % of 978.

Like i said who you choose is a matter of opinion, so actually when doing the stats:

Kelly Johnson = Aaron Hill

i never said i'd take Halladay and Burnett over Hudson and Smoltz. I just said that I'd take the 3/4/5 of the Blue Jays over Hampton, glavine and james in a heartbeat

Johnson had 14 errors and a fielding % of 978.

however, Hill destroyed johnson in range factor (5.13 to 4.76) and double plays turned (114 to 83)

Johnson did have an OPS+ of 117 though, while hill's was only 107

even the parking lots are better
That's right, how many parking spots are available at Fenway and Yankee stadium? Also how much does it cost to park? There
