Where does everybody get the notion that the Braves are as good as the jays. Not true people. Just isn't fact. We got better pitching, bullpen position players then they do. We have more depth all around the field.
So where do you get the notion that they are equal to us. And just cause u think they are gonna compete in the NL east doesn't mean they are better. That just shows how week the NL east is.

True. I just wouldn't write off the Twins just yet. I know they lost Johan and Hunter, but don't they always seem to have someone talented ready to take over for the guys who leave for greener pastures?
I agree the Twins might surprise, but i just don't think they have enough offense to stay with Cleveland and Detroit.
Their bullpen is obviously outstanding led by Nathan and Neshak. Their starters should get better with more experience. A lot depends on Liriano. If he can come back healthy they have a shot to compete because he can give some of what Santana had given them.
We'll see. I think their offense will be better with Delmon Young and Carlos Gomez. They add much needed speed to the team that was really really slow for a long time. And on that turf you need speed.
I think the Royals might surprise some this year too. The division isn't that bad of a division, i do agree, but i just like the NL West better.

Allright lets judge by having an AL East vs NL East Allstar Battle
AL East Allsstars:
1B - Carlos Pena
2B - Robinson Cano
SS -Derek Jeter
3B - Alex Rodriguez
C - Jorge Posada
OF - Manny Ramierez
OF - Alex Rios
OF - B.J. Upton (arguably could be Nick Markakis)
DH - David Ortiz
5 Man Rotation
Sp- Roy Halladay, Josh Beckett, Scott Kazmir, Daiskuke Matsusaka, Chein-Ming Wang
RP - Joba Chamberlain, Johnathan Papelbon, Mariano Rivera, Hideki Okajima
NL East All Stars
1B - Ryan Howard
2B - Chase Utley
SS- Hanley Ramierez (by a hair)
3B - David Wright
C- Brian McCann
OF - Jeff Francoeur
OF - Carlos Beltran
OF - Josh Willingham
DH - Mark Teixeira
P - John Smoltz, Cole Hammels, Johan Santanna, Tim Hudson, John Maine
RP -Billy Wagner, Rafael Soriano, Brad Lidge, Chad Codero
Both of these are all star caliber lineups as I challenge any division to put up the same type of lineup. I will have to go with the Al east if this were a real game due to a better bullpen and the NL east's weaker outfield. The NL has a better infield but I give the AL east the ever so slight edge.

i'm not sure. Blue Jays and Braves had almost identical records last year, when the AL east was lightyears better than the NL east (regardless of which division you think is better). Blue Jays were the better team last year, and this year at the least, i think they are extremely close.

and not knowing either of the Blue Jays potential closers (both of whom put up better numbers in their last season pitched than any of the 5 NL east closers), it shows you are completely ignorant when it comes to talking about the AL east in a way not unlike that which you think people from NY talk about smaller market teams
Village, i know who Accardo and Ryan is. If you look into one of my old post related to AL East All Star team, I did post about why was Accardo left off when someone posted someone that isn't even a closer. I don't know if you remember that post. When I did my post and mention that about Toronto's closer, it was in reference to the possibility of BJ Ryan resuming as the main guy or Accardo holding onto the job. I haven't watched them in Spring Training, but I know who those guys are. Maybe I was better off placing their names in parentheses after that comment. I think that I've made enough post about various teams that show that I'm aware of pretty much every team and not like alot of your NY brethren who will say that Melky Cabrera is better than Jeff Francoeur or that Angel Pagan is better than Cody Ross like I've seen.
that's great, talking about how the Yankees bullpen compares to NL bullpens, and citing a 3 2/3 inning, 2 run performance as an example. It's wierd though, you conveniently forget to metion the game 3, where after clemens was taken out, the yankees pitched 6 1/3 inning of 1 run ball to keep the yankees in the game.
Does that even count because they were up by 5 runs by the end of the 6th inning? They weren't in an "everything on the line" situation in that game. The other game was a close battle and they failed at the moment of truth.
You can't compare the yankees and Red Sox in the playoffs and how they did in crucial moments, when the NL east doesn't even have any crucial playoff moments to guage, being that they only had 1 representative, who got swept by a team that got demolished by an AL east team in the WS
Okay...you got me here. LOL

Ron,
Markakis should make it over Upton by a pretty good margin. Nick is really good.
Heatwave,
Oh really? How about backing it up rather than making statements? If that's your arguement, I pity you.

I will disagree here on this. The starting pitching from the Braves is better than the starting pitching of the Blue Jays. Hudson and Smoltz are better than Halladay and Burnett. The reasoning is that they are always hurt, especially burnett | |
