being that i live in Dallas, Tx, USC football coverage is minimal to say the least. i was hoping that one of my fellow trojan fans can keep me (us) posted on the latest news regarding spring football.

a4evertrojan, trojanluver, uscfannv, or anyone else who might attend practices or have the inside scoop on how the trojans are looking.

thanks in advance,

fight on

hey there tceezy007,

I would recommend that you check almost daily with the Daily News website at:

http://www.dailynews.com/usc for the most accurate news of who is playing, who might have gotten hurt, the quarterback competition. Then come on and give us your take on what you are reading. And of course the other main Trojan online page at:

http://usctrojans.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/usc-m-footbl-bo
dy.html

LA Times also covers the Trojans, but I personally prefer the Daily News.

FIGHT ON!

Thanks for the link to dailynews.com.  That site even has swimming news which is of great interest to me.  Glad to hear comments from all the QB's.  I read an interesting article on FoxSports that made a great point about the situation with the "new" offensive line and the possible need for a mobile QB; that would make Sanchez even more of an asset.  It would appear the competition for starting QB is heated, but fair, and all are behaving sportsman like and mature.  Can't help but think head coach Carroll has created that type of environment.  Glad to hear the wide receiver who transferred along with Mustang from Arkansas is working out.  That was sort of a blind leap of faith to transfer speaks volumes for USC and the brave kids who transfer.

This QB Barkley out of Santa Ana sure sounds interesting.  I didn't think CBS' Dennis Dodd was capable of writing a positive 3 page article on anyone wanting to have anything to do with USC; usually his complements are saved only for the SEC.

Many of us Trojan fans know USC has won a gold medal in every Olympics since 1912.  WOW!!! This swimmer, Rebecca Soni, may be USC's best, but not only, chance to keep that Olympic Gold Medal streak alive.  Wow, since 1912, wouldn't it be great to keep that streak going for 100 years?  No other University comes close to that mark.

One of my brothers lives in Charlottesville, VA; so I'm alittle familiar with UVA.  They appear to be a team capable of squeaking out a victory over just about anybody; they also appear to struggle to beat teams they should easily put away, in particular mid major (5-7) Middle Tennessee State who they beat 21-23 with field goal with 8 seconds remaining.  Perhaps Wahoo fans think if Stanford can beat USC @ USC then UVA can beat USC in Charlottesville.  Junior QB Sewell is a run/pass threat; his stats are terrible, ranked 91st but he led his team to 9 victories last year.  RB Simpson did a wonderful job coming of the bench for injured RB Pearman; regardless who carries the rock UVA has a great running game.  Losing DE Chris Long is a huge loss but there remains some good defensive talent.

Last season UVA did beat Miami 48-0 in the last game played in the Orange bowl.  Most fans thought Miami would defend their historical turf with dignity, especially considering Miami holds the NCAA record 58 consecutive home wins.  But, in stunning fashion the Cavaliers handed the Hurricanes their biggest shut out loss in their 70 year history of playing football in the Orange bowl.  I must admit I loved watching that game.  I hadn't laughed that hard since USC beat OU 55-19...

tceezy007... latimes.com and its sports section has a great on line report including yesterday's "accident" involving WR Williams (ouch..save a child, sprain an ankle!)

The Riverside County paper Press Enterprise also hasa good on-line source (PE.com)

The short of it is that CJ Gable will give Stafon Johnson a "run" for his money at RB... Joe McKnight will be used like a Reggie which will likely put him in pass routes.

Sanchez appears a clear front runner as starting QB. The "word" is that starting QB will be settled and announced in the Summer!

I likely will offer up a more enlightened forecast after some more intelligence is leaked to reporters.

Big Practice is at LA Coliseum 4/19...sorry you are far away, that is our first official tailgate of 2008 season!!!

tceezy007:

I live in Houston, so I can relate to your Trojan converage withdrawls.

I read Scott Wolf's trojan blog at the Daily News (link above) and find out lots of news there.  He is a little antagonistic sometimes, but he still has a lot o f good information on it.
