you can take a Met fan comparing David Wrights WHIP to ARods WHIP. Tiger fans who think Placido Polanco is better than Chase Utley and Cub fans for just about every other post but you cant take an honest assessment of a pitching staff from a rival pitching staff because the rival pitching staff is worse? I argue Matsuzaka is better because in my opinion he has better stuff and it was only his first season.

i don't have a problem if he does that BigB, but if he's going to, he should also put down "pitched 9 seasons of profesional baseball beforehand" next to where it says "rookie season" under Dice-K

It was? 8-5 in 17 starts, 105 ERA+, 116.1 IP...not bad for a rookie campaign, but not as good as what Dice-K rolled out last year. Only the WHIP was better, and it was only by a couple hundredths of a point.
Wang was 25 that year, 2 years younger than the Dice man, and he's shown improvement since then. The big question is whether Dice can improve on his '07 numbers, or are they what he is at this point?
