im not going to say i told you so. We already had these arguments back in Sept-Oct etc. But Prince has been changing schemes, personel, and staff ever chance he gets. Someone should tell him that continuety has its advantages.
This upcoming season is going to be very interesting. Its easy to be negative about it: 20 JUCOs, only 6 will be on campus for spring practice, actually getting into the system, the other 14-15 will get there in August, just in time to gray shirt or study up for the first game approaching in a month. They could easily go 2-10 if a couple of things dont happen 1) Oline - must, i repeat must, improve blocking for Josh and improve opening running lanes!! 2) Freeman - dont kome in over weight, dont throw 40yds across the field for a 5 yard gain. 3) defense - my god, kan it actually get worse? better hope not.
At the same time, these JUCOs could actually be key players, Freeman could be ready to kick some butt this year, and the oline might completely solidfy into a tight unit. they could actually go to a bowl next year. I dont know. Its too hard to tell with this team, especially with the desperation JUCO mode that Prince just jumped into (which it is desperation, you know that right?) The scariest part about this whole fiasco with the Football team is that if it really goes south, KSU could of done a full 180 and be right back in the toliet that Snyder pulled it out in the late 80's. With KU and MU emerging as powers (and actually developing a program) Nebraska and CU wont stay down for long, and ISU looks to be developing a pretty good defense (just like how KU turned it around early under Mangino) the North will be doing nothin but getting better while KSU is still waiting to "turn it on" under Prince. Combine that with the natural geographical disadvantage that KSU has and recruiting could really drop off, further hurting the program. Of course, KSU could actually turn it around this season. I think Prince should have at least a 4th year too regardless, with the chance to really coach his guys and not Snyders rejects.
The new AD will definitely have some hard decisions to make coming soon.
Good luck, see ya guys in Lawrence.
