So I'm hearing all this stuff from UGA fans about how STRONG they finished last year, and I thought I'd take a closer look.
I notice that they beat two good teams in UF & Auburn who both four loss teams, and then Vandy, Troy, UK, Ga Tech, & Hawaii who were all pathetic to average at best.
So then I get the trash talk from UGA posters about how bad OSU's OOC schedule was in 2007. Now of course OSU's 2007 schedule is a RARE exception for a team that has the following:
- National Champion Texas
- Pac 10 Champ Washington St
- Cincinnati
- NC State (Philip Rivers led 8-5 team)
- Texas Tech
- UCLA
to name a few in that time frame, and games against USC, Miami (FL), Va Tech, OKlahoma, in the future.
UGA's OOC scheduling however seems to be cupcake city EVERY year. Here's what a little investigating finds:
2007
- OK State (7-6) Average at best. Not impressive.
- West Carolina (1-10) 1-10.... in the Southern Conference! And you're going to talk about Kent State, and Akron????
- Troy (8-4) Average is being kind. Not impressive.
- Ga Tech (7-6) Average at best. Not impressive.
2006
- Western Kentucky
- UAB & nbsp;   ;
- Colorado -They were 2-10 and UGA managed to beat them by ONE FRIGGIN PT???? Not even close to impressive.
- GA Tech 9-5 in 06. Average team. Not impressive
2005
- Boise State - Not the "miracle year" Boise St team. Just an average 9-4 WAC team that lost to every quality team they played.
- La Monroe
- Ga Tech - Another average 7-4 GA Tech team. Don't they ever get tired of beating this lame team?
2004
- GA Southern
- Marshall
- GA Tech - Surprise! Another 7-5 Ga Tech team. Lame.
2003
- Clemson - A four loss Clemson team. Average at best.
- Middle Tenn St
- UAB & nbsp;
- Ga Tech - Another pathetic 7-6 Ga Tech team. When was the last time they were actually a good team????
2002
- Clemson - A 7-6 Clemson team. Not impressive
- Northwestern St
- New Mexico St
2001
- Arkansas St
- Houston
- Boston College- A four loss team that BEAT UGA.
This list goes on and on with average Ga Tech every year, and cupcakes like the following:
GA Southern
New Mexico St
Utah St
Central Fl
Wyoming
Kent St
Arkansas State
Northeast Louisiana
Southern Mississippi
Texas Tech (FINALLY a half way respectable team!!!)
So finally in 1996 we find ONE GOOD OOC team that UGA beat. So UGA fans please take a look in the mirror with the OOC scheduling comments.
Hey I hear Middle Georgia Valley State Tech Community East Campus is looking for a game in 2010. Better call now to schedule!

Bump any team out of UGA's OOC schedule that could put up even a LITTLE fight.

I think you're just acting like an idiot just to get the UGA fans stirred up. Because you can't possibly be seriously mentioning UCLA, TT, Cincy, etc.
UCLA 2001 7-4
Cincy 2002 7-7, 2004 7-5, 2006 8-5
TT 2002 9-5.
NC State 8-5
You lost to the NC Texas team. So what makes these "unimpressive" teams any better?
If you want to go into next year, how is @ #2 Pac 10 ASU, rival GaTech. Or the year after with ASU, @ Okie St., and rival GaTech?
All of these teams add up when you have to play Auburn, LSU, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, etc. Instead of the usual 1 big game with Michigan.

What is it...UGA hasn't travelled outta the south in some 30 years or so? It's something like that.
I know, I know, it ends this year with a game Arizona State team, but it's been long overdue...something most UGA fans will readily admit. And I find it funny that you list Alabama. A team that hasn't won more than 7 games in what sees like forever. Can OSU fans start calling up Minnesota as a tough game now?
Consistency is the key, and I see neither of it on both sides of this argument.

If you want, the Big 10 would LOVE to trade you. Bama and TN for PSU and MSU. That would 2 more easy games for Big 10 teams to exploit.
Auburn, last year defense was good, not great but good, and the offense had spurts that they showed they were good, but they also proved to be inept at times. They lost to USF in OT after USF missed 4 FG's.
FL had an average at best front 7, and a 1AA secondary. Anyone with half a passing game would have walked up and down the field on them.
LSU was very good the last 2 years, we will see about this year.
I would definately take UGA's schedule last year over the one Michigan had. Michigan would have EASILY gone 11-1 or 10-2 even with the injuries with that schedule. UGA played 1 good team all year and dominated them. They lost to an average team and lost another to a bad team.
OSU = App St.
Ore > SC
ND > W. Car.
Penn St. > Bama
NW = Ole Miss (and that is being generous to Ole Miss)
E. Mich < Tn
Pur > Vandy
IL < FL
Minn < Troy
MSU > Auburn
Wisc > Ky
OSU > GT
FL > Hi

Sure, but what about Auburn, LSU, and Florida?
Come on banginjimmy, I can swap the teams you listed to my liking and make it more favorable also.
Teddy is right though, no SEC team does well OOC. But for Buckeyetodd to say weakest in the nation, I laugh.

Besides, you spinmasters have the favor of the weirdest year in college football where mainly every team lost 4 games. So you can sit there and say all these teams that UGA played were bad because they lost 4-5 games. Well everyone lost 4-5 games last year, just about.

I'd rather play Auburn than Wisconsin....but the play calling would be equally uninventive. They just have bigger, angrier white guys.
I'd rather play Florida than just about anyone. It's the only time the UM offense actually shows a pulse.
LSU...I dont have an opinion. In the mid 90s though, I'd rather have been playing them than Penn State. It's all about perspective.
The weakest in the nation can usually be found mulling around the parts of what we call Kansas. KSU was notorious for being open to playing high school jayvee teams in the mid-late 90s and now Kansas has followed them up, complete with the typical late season loss to the first legit team they play to keep them out of anything too special...

Auburn would have pounded Michigan States faces into the dirt, it would have been over by half. No way was Michigan St tougher than Auburn. Also Bama and Tennessee instead of Michigan St and Penn St? Tennessee beat Wisconsin, you would have a much better chance of going 2-0 against those two Big 10 teams then you would beating Tennessee. Also 10-2 on UGA"s schedule with the injuries you had would not happen. If you were healthy, you probably would have gone 10-2 or better but if you were as injured as you guys were during the season you would have gone 8-4 or 9-3.

I know this is hard for you but let's strive for just a LITTLE objectivity.
Do you realize how far in advance most of these games are schedule? When UGA scheduled the series with Colorado, Colorado was playing in Big12 championship games. So yeah, it's Georgia's fault that Mr. N ditched them in probation and took off. That should DEFINITELY mean UGA is afraid to play a good team.
And the Tech game is a game we play every year. In the early 90's that meant we were playing a national championship contender. In the 2000's it hasn't quite meant that, but seriously, bro. That does not REMOTELY mean UGA is afraid to play big OOC games.
Youngstown State
Ohio
Troy
(of course they all might be better than minnesota)

I actually picked those 2 for a couple reasons
1. They were the 2 that beat UGA
2. Tn was #2 in the SEC and Bama #8. Average #5
MSU was #9 and PSU was #5 Average #7 in Big 10.
I could ahve also said Wisc and Iowa too, as it would have been about the same.
