I can't believe the day has come that people are asking for Tony Meija to come back. I'm pretty sure Tony is gone for good but I agree that this new guy is about as dull as they come.
I, for one, agree with you. I knew as soon as the Rockets lost a game (in this case 3 games) that he would drop us back down hard. Not counting that the losses were to Boston, NO, and Phoenix, the Rockets should not be this far down at #8. Why is Utah so high at #5? We have a two game lead on them and we're tied 1-1 against them. It just proves my point that this guy Crouse doesn't know a damn thing about basketball.
Rockets should be ranked no less than #6, by the way...
you guys thought tony was bad? this guy is horrible. at least tony gave summaries of teams of why they should be there instead of a single line like a 3rd grader could write. also look at his score predictions for each game. theyre almost all to the vegas line. like if san antonio is favored by 7 in his final score hell pick them to win by 7. its pathetic. bring tony back please.
The NBA isn't on CBS at all (the only sport that's not at least partially covered by CBS) so they obviously don't give a damn. If you look at Sportsline's columnist list they don't even have the NBA listed at all. Mejia is a dumb arse but he will land on his feet and get another gig soon.
At least these guys get paid, unlike us chumps who think we know something but in reality we are just as lame except we are dume enough to do it for free!
you guys are going to hate anybody who ranks the teams.
youll give anyone a chance for one second, then as soon as you see a team ranked one spot lower than you think they should be, youll demand his resignation and question his credentials as a writer.
I've been wondering the same thing about Meija, though not because I want him back...simply because I'd love to rub his snappy comment about my Sixers getting only 20 wins this season and playing for a draft pick in his face.
People will naturally hate anyone who drops their team a few spots, but most of this seems to be directed at the quality of the writing. This guy has been doing this for a few weeks, and basically all he has written is one sentence justifications, most of which have been basic statements that anyone could write by looking at a stat sheet. I hated Mejia b/c he'd still put the Spurs in the top 3 no matter how much they'd lose, but he always backed up his choices for the most part. Most people didn't agree with him, but at least he had something somewhat insightful and entertaining to say. This guy's writing has no substance; he's dry and boring, so YES we will question his credentials b/c we see them and they're garbage
To the guy who complained that Houston should be #6 is just laughable. They have lost 3 of 4 and were beat bad. This team will continue to lose. My guess is they will enter the playoffs as the 7 seed.
Ask any coach in the West who would they rather play the Jazz or the Rockets in the playoffs and everyone would pick the Rockets. Their win streak was amazing, but they just are not that good without Yao.
Way too much criticism on this one- Tony was too long winded, this guy is too short. Give it a rest! Rankings are intended to generate discussion- it does not make the writer an idiot!
This new guy- his one lines pretty much sum it up- how can that be bad? And Tony? No idea what has happened but hope he is ok and that no one in power has actually listen to him being trashed on here. As one of you said- we all love to hate the rankings and I think the love/ hate with Tony was pretty fun too. Maybe he is a jerk but he is OUR jerk so hands off!
Seriously- Tony is a decent writer. Never afraid to take a stand. If he has been canned- it could make for pretty boring writing from his replacement. If someone is canned for being outspoken or from getting bad reviews from a few of us red necks, why would the next guy put his head in the noose? I would stick to one liners as well.
Be careful what you wish for. Having a writer you can't trash will make this site boring!
