Alex Rios and the Blue Jays have apparently agreed to a six-year contract worth $65 mil. This is great news for those wondering about his future with the team, especially after the trade rumours he was involved with this offseason.
At an average of just under $11 mil. per year, that is quite a bargain for someone who is just reaching his prime years. I hope he doesn't do a Vernon Wells and go south after signing such a lucrative deal, though.

Vernon had one bad year. Was the injury to blame? We will have to watch this year to judge that.
If the Rios signing is true that is a great move. Maybe the best move Riccardi has made as the Jays GM.

Finally, a move that makes sense by ricciardi. Now they have most positions locked up long term. that just leaves shortstop and left feild.

This is very good news. I see Rios being a better player then wells in the future maybe not quit as much power but higher average. I would like to see Rios and Wells steal a little more but I'm very excited about this. I just hope Rios dosen't stink it up like Wells last year.

That is a great deal, im glad Ricciardi is doing something smart. I also heard a rumor that they are working on a long term deal for Aaron Hill, thats another big priority.
Toronto really has all the pieces it needs to get the job done, if the Jays have just a bit of luck with Injuries, and everyone plays up to their ability, the post season is very possible.

If we can get our line up to hit like 2006 and our pitching stays healthy we should make the playoffs.

Now that the jays signed Alex Rios, they are for sure going to make the play offs but how far, i dont know cause the jays tend to play unconsistent and loose games when they should win.

How does the resigning of Rios ensure a playoff appearance. To bad it wasn't that easy. Rios was already on our roster for this year. If they do not make playoffs it will because of injuries or because they still could use another good left handed bat. We have Overbay, who is our best left handed hitter, Stairrs isn't to bad either. But if Overbay gets hurt we will struggle again.

Alex Rios just got his 2nd RBI of the year and then turns around and gets thrown out trying to steal 2nd base. It was a nice at bat though.
5-0 after 7, this one better be in the bag!
Go Blue Jays!

Don't forget the siging of Hill who is on his way to being a very solid 2nd baseman. JP has done a great job in signing the nucleus of this team for a few years. We just need a real manager and we'd have a chance!!

Look again, 10 hits in eight innings against the Red Sox.
I like this "look again" game. We should create our own thread.

Possibly 3 option years for Hill too... Those look to be expensive, probably still worth it tho
