UK will do very well next season

I hate to say this, but Kentucky without Woodson is like Atlanta without Vick. Get ready for your return to mediocrity.

I don't know, Kentucky always seems to have a good QB. But, they're still Kentucky. How they blew that Tennessee game I'll never know. It might have costed us a National Championship.

Gatorzb2b - Not complaining about the non-call that gave UT their win.  It happens.  And yes, this OSU fan knows they should have won against Miami in regulation, but a bad call forced OT.  It happens.

Here's hypocrisy - Sagarin's ratings. lol

Ga Southern on the first I-AA rankings I found had Youngstown St at 15 and GS at 19.  They are 1-AA.  Keep talking about that hypocrisy.  Those rankings from USAToday website.  I don't know how Sagarin mixes the two.  But they probably were better than Minnesota.

[quote}I know I am going to get ripped by SEC fans for this but I had to say something.[/quote]

No, not ripped, but seriously, what's up with the whining and BS? Why shouldn't UGA get some love? We already know they had a solid season last year. We know all about their scheduling, win streak and returning starters. We know about their recruiting classes and their successes.... add all these up and you get a pretty good argument for UGA "getting some love" by the media.

While you were too busy being blinded by your own love for your buckeyes since their somewhat recent NC, you did not realize UGA has not been given any love by the media outlets, especially on the level it seems to be on now. This is a first in a long time, and deservedly so, if you ask me, and that goes both ways. (Didn't deserve the attention before but do now.) In case you don't keep up with UGA football, which I am sure you have not, what you have failed to see is what Coach Mark Richt (CMR) has created over his time at UGA. It has become a winning and solid football program that puts growing into a man on the same level as growing into the best football player he and the coaches can make them. He is a God loving man and believes in his faith and this is one subject that often gets a lot of comments from the players as a positive reason as why they like CMR and are willing to do whatever necessary to be a part of his team.

As for some specifics, UGA's 2008 team is comprised of a youthful team with very few starting seniors with a majority of sophomores and juniors rotating constantly, on both sides of the ball.

Matt Stafford- often over looked because his stats aren't the huge numbers most expect from a winning QB. But if one delved into the why behind they would see it was partially due to youth, playing as a true freshman and playing behind a OL that had to start three forms of freshmen, which doesn't help a young QB's stats, if you know what I mean. Over time, that line gelled and the results were obvious against great competition, Florida, Auburn, etc. where we were scoring 40 points on teams that weren't used to such. Stafford had a great blend of passing long and short and could depend on his receivers this past year where as the year before the WR had an awful time holding onto his ball. Stafford made huge strides in 2007 and with a more experienced OL this year, combined with the finding of a replacement for Velasco (our leader on the line last year) should be able to provide Matt with that much more time to do his magic, and that is lead.

Our OL... as already stated, young and up and coming. Big! Need to find a true leader from this group and hope he emerges on his own. Velasco from last year was a Godsend and he alone helped get the 2007 OL to step up and perform. We have plenty of talent coming in and young Ben Jones from Alabama might just be that man, but let us wait and see when he might get in. Across the line, UGA is pretty damn solid.

At RB....... hmmmmmm, what can I say? Knowsnon is not a one year wonder. He is a brilliant runner. Caleb King will be a great compliment. Dontavious Jackson and Richard Samuel are RB's you will be hearing about soon enough. We are very solid at RB talent, but also happen to be very youthful.... guess that is good for continuing our tradition of RB's though I know recently, that hasn't been the case.

WR's and TE- Solid. Have some great recruits coming in with a talented group already on board. Have to wait and see but very few teams use their TE and Fullbacks like UGA does. Our FB is well known for what he is capable of doing..... blocking, getting a first down on third and short or the necessary TD when sniffing the goal line, and oh yeah, he catches the ball out of the backfield.... or was I talking about our TE...... sometimes it is hard as UGA includes them both as an offensive weapon. Hell, UGA is TE U!!!! And UGAs FB's go on to play in the NFL just like the TE's.

Now about our D.....

I'll surmise, youth and talent is what this unit is all about. Last year, our coaches were desperately searching for the right combo of LB's as UGA lost all three to graduation. You don't think that is hard? Well, somewhere after the Tennessee game we found the right combination. Names you will know this year from our LB corp: Rennie Curran and Danelle Ellerbee along with Akem Hebron (making up for lost time), as well as Gamble and Dewberry.

Our secondary is young, young, young but blessed with great talent. You will learn all about Georgia's secondary Reshad Jones, C J Byrd and Quintin Banks. They have tons of talent and are players, you will see as time will tell.

Our D Line has some speed, beef and talent. Roderick Battle and Jarius Wynn are battling it out to take over for the departed Marcus Howard, a one year starter but made a name for himself. Why? Because that is the type of talent UGA has behind its starters. Hell, Knowshon was a number three RB and he looks pretty good.

I have rambled enough. I do not know what all I have attempted to say, where I lost track and went off on a tangent, or if I said anything at all, but I wanted to attempt to explain why UGA should get some love. Overall, we are a young, yet experienced team with depth. We have a third year starter at QB with all the talent in the world (whether you accept that as fact or not), an offense with talent deep at the RB, WR, TE and FB. Our D is solid with talent throughout and have a feeling this could be one of our best units in awhile (this year or next). CMR knows how to coach and if he and the coaches can keep this team healthy, focused and prepared, there is no telling what this team can accomplish, even with that schedule. UGHHHHHH!!!! I know it will be difficult but I look forward to seeing what team this group of men gels into for this upcoming season. I only hope we do ourselves proudly and that the players leave it on the field, no matter the outcome.

God bless Georgia and as always, How 'Bout Them DAWGS!!!!

Sorry, but Sagarin is a well respected authority on ranking teams based on their actual performance and statistical ranking, taking all bias and emotion out of the equation. You seem quick to dismiss him. Did he not put your team where you thought they should be?

Seems to me that 99% of the people on here trust his judgment over that of a regional sports writer or a coach that was so busy watching his own game that he didn't bother watching the other games that day.

I don't look at Sagarin, and just the fact that he mixes 1-A and 1-AA teams in one ranking tells me something is off.  His system is all supposedly set up on correlations, how do you make that correlation?  Surely not enough good data.

Also, seems pretty funny how close Sagarins rankings are to start when compared to the polls.  Sounds pre-defined to me.  That is bias.  He gives DIFFERENT "weights" to all teams to start.  That is bias.

There is no poll or ranking system that has no bias, otherwise Hawaii should have been number 1 at the end of regular season last year.  That would have been unbiased.

i have seen a few times, "why does OSU get so much love"  and my question to you is FROM WHO??? The media bashes OSU and fans bash OSU... people are trying to argue that OSU shouldnt be considered a top 5 team next year and all I am saying is how can Georgia get so much love and people say OSU doesnt deserve to be in the top 5 or even 10 to start the year?  Thats the whole point of this and still no one has really answered.  If you guys read anything you will see I agree wit hGeorgia's hype this year but all I am saying is how can UG get as much love as it is and OSU still gets bashed... the past 2 NC games reall y dont matter because this season coming up has nothing to do with it.  This will be an experienced buckeye team returning all of its starters virtually, same as UG, so thats all I am saying

Because the Buckeyes have been getting all the love since 2002 and people got tired of it, I guess.

Some one has to get the lion's share of the love.  UGA looks as good or better than the other top teams.  I hate OSU and USC, yet I know an endless amount about both programs from the "love" both have recieved over the past 4-5 yrs.  OSU was made a fool of the past two NC games, so they deserve no extra love.  For the record, I don't want the love.  Talking over and over about a team never inhances their chances, and can sometime hurt a team.  But let the DAWGS enjoy the limelight for a bit, you have had your share.

but once again the Rose Bowl passed over the best possible match up to take the weenie Big 10 opponent, and we all saw what happened

do some research before posting stupid things like the above... the reason the UGA vs. USC matchup did not occur was because the Sugar Bowl would not release UGA to the Rose.  The Sugar knew that they were forced to take Hawaii since they had the last BCS at large pick this year, so for them to be able to turn a profit, they hung on to a regional team that would fill the stadium.

bfapsu 10,

You are right.  The Sugar would not have released UGA, but we all know the Rose was relieved when LSU got the BCS so they would not have to be put into that position of making the choice.  However, the Rose could certainly have taken Mizzou since they beat the Illini and were ranked higher.  They chose to go for tradition, which is fine and their call.  Mizzou and USC would have been a much better game than the one we saw.

And no folks don't start that argument about no conference getting more than two teams in.  The Rose had first choice since they lost Ohio State.  Had they picked Mizzou, the Orange would have had to pick another team instead of Kansas to play Va. Tech....who knows, maybe even Illinois.

NCBulldawg;

Perfect response. I don't know how many times you have to prove a point before the burden of proof switches from the UGA fan to OSUBOB. Seems to me his answer was stated beyond the shadow of a doubt, he just doesn't like it. And until someone says "OSU deserves more love than UGA even though they don't earn it." he won't stop.

It's like a little kid and the "But why?" game.

Actually, I was referring to the HORRIBLE call that handed you another chance in OT to beat Miami. That game should have been over when the pass was dropped.
