I know I am going to get ripped by SEC fans for this but I had to say something. Everyone tears into OSU because of the last 2 NC games which I can handle to a certain degree, but what I cant handle is why Georgia fans consider themselves to be above OSU as well just because thye are in the SEC? Dont get me wrong I think Georgia is a great program and next year will be a NC contender for sure but we are going off the players they have coming back. But last year their schedule was weak, the real only big win I see was Florida, lost to Tenn badly and to a SC team that was average. They did take care of Hawaii but it was Hawaii. They had a weak schedule the year before and lost to both TENN and Florida which were the 2 toughest games they had that year. The year before had a great year but then got beat by a young WVU team. So I am not trying to make this OSU is better than Georgia type thing but am bringing it up because Georgia's schedule last year was weak but no one seems to bring that up with all the OSU bashing. SO maybe Georgia is a little overrated coming into this year? Let me know what you think and i guess try to be objective, I know how hard that is for some.

again please dont make this into an OSU thing, or OSU sucks thing... I am just asking on why Georgia gets so much love when to me they have similar situations the past 2-3 years... except making it to national titles which I am willing to conceive it was due to OSU playing in a weaker conference for the debate.

I'm sure there are several factors invovled in why UGA is getting so much love int he media. One of the factors does have to do with he fact that they are in the SEC, the SEC was viewed as one of the strngest conference, if not hte strongest, last season. Plus, since they were on a roll at the end (remember, in CFB if you put a huge streak together you are automatically one of the best teams) they were perceived as the team to beat in the SEC.
As far as why "they are better than OSU", it's as simple as OSU lost in the NC game. Since they lost, any of the top teams that won their bowl game will boast their program as being better. Had OSU beat LSU, everyone would have been talkin about hos UGA was more deserving than LSU, they are a better team than LSU.......

Being an SEC guy and die hard Gator, I see why the love for UGA but wonder about the "disrespect" for tOSU.
UGA returns a greet deal of GOOD players and have had a heck of a recruiting class. They have a brutal schedule, and if they run the table, there will be no doubt that they are the best in the NCAA.
Conversely, tOSU returns a ton of great players, and I maintain, they will be headed to their 3rd straight trip to the title game.
UGA must get buy Auburn, LSU, and Florida....not an easy feat.
tOSU is challenged early at USC.
But that's why the play the games.
As far as I'm concerned, the big 3 to watch are tOSU, UGA, and of course, The GATORS!!

good points, again I believe Georgia is a team to be reckoned with this year but trying to figure out with all the hate for OSU why all the love for Georgia, both played weak OOC last year, Georgia had 2 losses one to a good team one to an average team, and they are returning the core of their players just as OSU. So I guess just curious as to why people wanna bash OSU about getting to another national title, but Georgia is so much better this coming year? I dont know, good points so far though, but both of you guys dont seem to hate on OSU as much as the avergae SEC fans

First of all, we haven't gotten blown out in our last two bowl games. Last year, our "weak" schedule included Ok State, SC, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and Hawaii, all of which would have been the best team on OSU's schedule besides MAYBE Michigan and of course LSU. And it wasn't just that we beat good teams down the stretch, we HAMMERED them. We didn't play a game in which our opponent was within 10 points since early October. So what are you talking about? When and if we play each other, you'll see. Same old same old.

WHAT???? We played Oklahoma State, Troy, and Georgia Tech. OSU played Akron, Bowling Green and such. That may be the stupidest thing I've ever heard on this board.

again calm down bookdawg, Oklahoma St Troy and GT certainly is better than OSU's ooc LAST YEAR but is nothing to write home about. If you read the original post I wasnt trying to say OSU is better and all that jazz, just trying to figure out wh yal lthe love for georgia, again if you read it i think Georgia is solid also. But last year you got blown out by Tenn and lost early in the season to a mediocre SC team. I never said the schedule was weak just OOC, but you cant control conference schedule so thats kind of a moot point. SO take it easy and read the whole post.

what i am tryign to say is peopel scough at OSU even though they are returning basically the same team that made it to the NC game last year. This year they play at USC but people still say they have no shot and blah blah blah and if they do make it they will get blown out again by a SEC team which very may well happen. Then people say well its al lthe same players that got beat by LSU, but if thats the case Georgia is returning the same team that lost to SC and got beat bad by Tenn... so why do they get a free pass for that?

Who had a better OOC than Georgia last year? Not many. We didn't play App State, but still.
I did read the whole post and you were comparing OSU and Georgia's schedule as about equal and that is crazy. Which is why I think they have trouble with the SEC. By the time the Title Game rolls around, SEC teams are very, very seasoned while OSU has played ONE game worth a hoot all year. The SEC team gets healthy with its time off and OSU gets rusty. Bad combination.

You didn't hammer FLorida and Tebow was also hurt, not an excuse for losing but I hate when UGA fans act like they are already better than UF for beating them 1 year when we were devastated with injuries.

i would say a big part of it is UGa is coming into 08 as one of the frontrunners in the SEC, in addition to having a strong team coming back.
.. and just when they deserve props the fans take it a step further stating included Ok State, SC, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and Hawaii, all of which would have been the best team on OSU's schedule besides MAYBE Michigan
I would say the Penn State, Illinois, wisconsin were are worthy opponents that would each go at least 6-2 against that lineup if not better.

You have to get young players time to gel and find their role. Its much different to compare a team at the beginning of a season to another team at the end of a season. OSU lost late, when their young players should've been in a groove.
I dunno about Georgia getting all the love. I mean OSU's and UGA's record since 2001 are almost identical. Besides the NC's that OSU has walked into.

Just like you said Big Ten linemen are slow and bad but Joe Thomas went #3 and Levi Brown went #5 overall in last years draft. Jake Long will be the number one linemen in this draft.

Come on now, this is about why Georgia is getting "love." So what Michigan and Wisconsin beat Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee. Thats just 2 or 3 teams from each conference, not a good barameter.
Wanna know the #1 reason why UGA is getting love? They has a Soph QB, Freshman RB, 3 freshmen on the o-line, 2 sophmore CB's, sophmore safety, freshman LB, and juniors all over the d-line and linebacker core. Thats why.

Let's just cut out all of this stupidity, IF they play next year, it will be more of the same. We haven't lost to a Big 10 team since 1957, so I'll laugh it up again next year. However, we play SC, Bama, Tennessee, Arizona State, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and a title game. OSU hasn't seen that many good teams in 10 years. It will be very, very hard for us to run that gauntlet, while OSU gets USC. If they win that game, they're in. Good luck.
