All right, everyone.

Let's stop the off season nonsense and discuss how the Broncos look at Spring ball.  Several on Bronco Country are ready to annoint Kellen Moore as our next four year starter!  We look very strong at running back, and receiver.  Defense is still a question, but the new crop of DB's are bigger & faster.

Your opinions?

Smiles...  Since you were there (so was I) it will be interesting to see what differences of opinion we have on what we saw.

QB's...  Moore's accuracy was amazing.  From warm-up to the scrimmage, he could put the ball on a rope into the receives hands every time.   The Q formation, and multiple Shotgun formations will help him out a lot because of his size.  Personally, I'm excited about this kid.  Plain and simple - he's a winner.  .........  The other QB's?  Bush looks like he wants the starting spot.  But still had his mistakes.  Lomax looked confused far too often.  Coughlin could press Moore.  But if Moore continues his progress through the Spring and Summer - he's the man.

RB's...  We have great RB's.  And almost too deep in RB's.  Enough said.

WR's...  Young was amazing.  But if Childs comes back, he will still be the go-to guy.

OLine...  I'm worried here.  They were not able to pick up blitzes very well.  Their run blocking - specially on sweeps or around the ends - was not good.  The line needs to develop, and develop fast, for Boise to be WAC contenders.

Defense...  I'm going to talk as a whole because the defense was good all the way around, and until the offense can test them consistently (not just a broken play or a good pass here and there), we really don't know what individuals will be stepping up.  Plus the focus right now is on the offense - new QB and new OLine.

I liked the stunting and blitzing that Boise did.  It was effective (at least against an inexperienced OLine).  Pass coverage looked good (not great).  Zone coverage was ok when they were running it.  All in all, the defense looked good.  But this early in the year, when the offense is trying to find timing and consistency, the defense always looks good.

Smiles, from the sheer volume of posts on this thread, it seems to me that more people are interested in the nonsense. We'd be glad to have you join us. We're having a great discussion about superheroes.

Thanks BA, good info.  Unfortunately I couldn't make the scrimmage, but like BA said, I'd be interested to hear Smiles compare and contrast what he saw with what BA saw.  Did anybody else make it?  What was your take?  Thanks!

Perfect...  I think others may be different than mine.  The general concensus of those who were there thought that the defense was poor.  I on the other hand thought the offense still has a lot of room for improvement and the defense played well - considering.

There were a lot of good offense plays in the 2nd half of the scrimmage that the defense didn't cover well, I'll give that much.  But they produced plenty of turnovers, they blitzed a ton, and they covered end-sweeps very well.  They swarmed to the ball well.

All in all, I guess both sides had good and bad plays.  The D did have quite a number of first stringers not playing in the first scrimmage, so it will be interesting to see what happens when they get back in.
