Smiles... Since you were there (so was I) it will be interesting to see what differences of opinion we have on what we saw.
QB's... Moore's accuracy was amazing. From warm-up to the scrimmage, he could put the ball on a rope into the receives hands every time. The Q formation, and multiple Shotgun formations will help him out a lot because of his size. Personally, I'm excited about this kid. Plain and simple - he's a winner. ......... The other QB's? Bush looks like he wants the starting spot. But still had his mistakes. Lomax looked confused far too often. Coughlin could press Moore. But if Moore continues his progress through the Spring and Summer - he's the man.
RB's... We have great RB's. And almost too deep in RB's. Enough said.
WR's... Young was amazing. But if Childs comes back, he will still be the go-to guy.
OLine... I'm worried here. They were not able to pick up blitzes very well. Their run blocking - specially on sweeps or around the ends - was not good. The line needs to develop, and develop fast, for Boise to be WAC contenders.
Defense... I'm going to talk as a whole because the defense was good all the way around, and until the offense can test them consistently (not just a broken play or a good pass here and there), we really don't know what individuals will be stepping up. Plus the focus right now is on the offense - new QB and new OLine.
I liked the stunting and blitzing that Boise did. It was effective (at least against an inexperienced OLine). Pass coverage looked good (not great). Zone coverage was ok when they were running it. All in all, the defense looked good. But this early in the year, when the offense is trying to find timing and consistency, the defense always looks good.
