I was very disappointed by our loss to MSU for two reasons, 1. I have never liked the Spartans. 2. I don't feel like we played our best. I could accept the loss if we had played a little better and they still beat us, but we could've won that game with a few minor differences in game play.
Anyway, I wanted to say that we need to be more patient with this Pitt team (I know that it is difficult to do). Mike Krzyzewski took over the Duke program in 1980. It took him three seasons just to have a decent overall record. It took him 10 years to win the National title. AND he was at a school with a rich NCAA history. Players knew that Duke was a national program when he took it over and it still took him time to get them to championship status.
As much as it pains us to wait, I truly feel that as long at Pitt stays the course and continues to perform well in the Big East tournament, get a bid into the NCAA tournament, and can win one or two games in the NCAA tournament, our time will come. We will get that magical bracket, where everything falls our way and when it does, the recruits will get even better. Then, as someone mentioned, we can possibly have several NBA-like players on the roster and we will finally become the national program we all want Pitt to be. The pride we feel for the team causes us to hold them in a spotlight that they aren't quite ready to be in...yet. But I truly believe within the next few years, we will get our chance.
GO PITT!!!

Call me when pitt gets past the sweet 16. Pitt only beats big east teams. And don't even talk about beating duke this year b/c duke suck this year. Pitt will only be good if you get a mcdonald all american. Yous guys had my boy from brooklyn chris talf to bad he only stay 2 years but thats what happens when people tell you, you will be a top 10 pick in the first round. Am from brooklyn ny, i like the fact that you guys have alot of nyc kids on your team.

Chris Taft, what a waste of athletic talent. Look at the improvement a player like Sam Young made between his Soph and Jr years. Look at a guy like Aaron Gray as a soph and how he improved his game. Now I'm not saying Taft would have gotten as much of a bump between his soph and jr years as Sam Young, but Taft had all the potential in the world. Without a doubt, he had an NBA body. Leaving after his sophmore year was probably the dumbest thing he ever did. I also don't know how hard he worked to get better, but I'm not saying he didn't (just that I don't know). No matter what, unless you've had major success in college, you should never leave early. And no matter how you slice it, Taft never had major success in college hoops. If you haven't mastered NCAA competition, you're a fool to think that you'll be a top NBA pick. I guess he was a fool.

Hopefully you understood my post about the waste of talent. I meant that he could have probably been a 1st round type pick, maybe even a fairly high one with one more year. He wasted it by leaving early and now has been out of the NBA and played in other leagues. The guy got hurt too after leaving Pitt. It just seems like such a shame to see someone with all of that natural ability leave before he was ready. He could have gotten so much more by staying...that's what I meant about him wasting his talent. Talent gets you paid if you use it correctly. Taft listened to people that didn't know what they were talking about and because of it, lost out on a lot.
I guess the moral to the story is, when in doubt, listen to people who have your interests in mind, not their own.

A different era, yes, but still it was the toughest loss. A common theme of late has been that the key element that Pitt lacks is NBA caliber players. The team that lost to Vandy had at least two.

Zavakas should have been forced to play. If Zavakas didn't "quit" Wade probably wouldn't have scored so much, Pitt might have won and Howland could've been the coach for longer, not to mention maybe make it to the Final Four

Hey JJustin95, Zavakas did not quit playing, he was not allowed to play for the rest of the game. I know for a fact from certain players (who wish to remain nameless) that he was benched by Howland over some disagreement that seemed to blow Howland's fuse. Zavakas made a critical statement (like he did all season) against what Howland wanted him to do, and Howland took exception to it.
I was a fan of Howland until then. I will say no more except UCLA was knocking.

After watching Memphis State play the last couple of games, even last night's loss, I can honestly say they would have roughed up Pitt . So in a sense, the MSU loss wasn't all that bad. Memphis can compete with some lesser pro teams, they are very athletic. They would have crushed Pitt.
