It really sucks, but the Tigers have the lineup to cover up for someone being out of the lineup. There will be other injuries this season just hopefully no major ones.
The Tigers have plenty of options to fill in for Granderson. Inge is looking like the first choice at the moment. Jones, Raburn, and Guzman can also all play center. Guzman will probably get Granderson's spot on team until he gets back.
Hope he recovers quickly, he was having a good spring. I think Inge probably is the best option in CF. Leyland had Renteria leadoff yesterday, I would assume it would be him or maybe Pudge leading off til Granderson gets back. I'm not sure they can keep Guzman on the big club, with Inge committed to CF, we need another catcher (Sardihna)...
BOO!!! what rotten luck, hit by a pitch on the finger and it actually breaks it. Bummer. Not a great way to start the most anticipated season in Tigers history. The Cabrera deal will have to get us through. Now maybe Tigers fans will understand why the organization didn't go out and get a "top set-up man" and overpay him be several mil a season.
He is expected to miss at least 3 weeks with a fracture to his right middle finger..... that sucks!
15 day dl list retro active to Saturday. That means he will miss the first two series and be eligible to come off for the Boston home opener. I haven't heard three weeks . Also with the way the weather is in Detroit the last week the chances of them getting all six games in is not very likely.
Love the pic Adrian - the Tigers were so strong up the middle both in the field and at the dish. Can Pudge, Renteria, Polanco and Granderson measure up to Lance, Tramm, Lou and Chet? Time will tell
The one benefit from this is that Brandon Inge can just be quiet and play some baseball. As much as I love the guy, his clamoring for a trade is starting to make me angry. He's getting paid like 4 mil a year and he was the biggest rally killer on the planet last year. The good thing is he'll be covered by the rest of this nasty line up, and the teams we're playing aren't that great. Curtis Granderson is one of my favorite Tigers, and the numbers he put up last year were staggering, now that he's even more protected in this line up I can't wait to see what he'll do this year.
I'd bet Pudge (he did lead off last year against lefties) or Edgar Renteria will probably lead off for the Tigers, and then have Polanco hit second.
this guy is key to the Tigers winning this year.I concur - Granderson is a BIG key for the Tigers. Hopefully, his finger won't have any negative effect on his swing/hitting after he comes back.
It does suck that Curtis Granderson is going to miss a couple of series I would like to see Brent Clevlen come up from the minors and get some more experience. After making that big trade losing our two top prospects I think he is our next best prospect.
