*Also in the interest of keeping us in that top 10 on the boards, I'll start a poll too...

Alright, in all honesty, what do you guys expect out of this season? Or in other words what will it take to consider this season a success. I know many of you will say nothing less then a cup, BUT we all know that's way easier said then done.

So in the interest of seeing what we expect out of our team as fans, here's a little poll for fun...

I voted for winning the division. Trust me, I want a cup just as bad as anyone else, but I would consider winning the division a very big achievement in this hard fought division that we call the Northwest.. Even if sadly enough that meant a 1st round exit.

Why you might ask, well in our short life in this NHL, to already be able to hang a banner in the rafters with such a tough divison is an honor all it's own. It's a big start to showing that we can be the boss of this division & hopefully one day the conference, and it shows promise and improvement form previous years.

I think I'd rather win the division & lose first round then come in 2nd or 3rd and lose before the finals, it would almost seem as if we had nothing to show for the year even though it'd be a great ride.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT A CUP!!!! But realisticly, being division champ is a pretty big honor to start with. I'm hoping we get a little of that 2003 mojo heading into the play-offs this year. And no more losing to the f'n Ducks!!! haha

Wild to the Cup in '08! (hopefully!)

I voted for nothing but the cup. Let's face it, that's the only acceptable goal. Personally, if they can continue to compete like they have the past few games, I'll be a proud fan no matter how the chips fall.

I agree with you about the Division.  I definitely want to see them bring home that banner.  As far as what it's going to take in the playoffs, I think they have to win at least the first round.  If they fall to the 7 or 8 seed and get knocked out right away in round one it's really not going to sit well with me.  That means they would have basically limped into the playoffs when the division was their's for the taking and then flamed out against San Jose or Detroit.  Not acceptable.  If we win the division or finish 2nd we're going to end up playing one of our division rivals in the first round, and losing to them whether we're home or away is again, unacceptable.

So, for me to consider the season a success they need to at least advance to the 2nd round and at worst make a strong showing to get to the conference finals.  Minimum of a 6 game series.

I would consider the season a success if I got to spend a lost weekend with that chick who sits in the first row or two right behind the Wild bench, wearing the white tops that highlight those cans so well.

As far as the on-ice stuff goes, second round of playoffs is an absolute minimum.  A Cup is really stretching the pipe dream, but third round (conf. finals) is not an unreasonable goal to set.  If the Wild miss the playoffs or make a first round exit, it should be au revoir for Jacques Lemaire.

I agree with Warped, The ultimate goal is The Cup, but if the Wild do not at least make it to the second round of the playoffs, This team may look a whole lot different next year. Which may not be a bad thing.

I agree with you guys on that too, and Warped, now I got to see this girl you're talking about!! haha

If they gave more then 8 spots for answers I would have made a "Division title & at least to 2nd round" option. But I ran out of space so I had to opt for the "other" option. I guess in retrospect I should of checked other & wrote what I expect out of them but oh well.

Honestly though, Maybe I'm way off base but I either want a cup or at least a division title. If we just make the play-offs and get bumbed in any round but a cup round then it's a huge disapointment to walk away with nothing to show. So I guess the best way to say it is, Wild, you better at least win the division if you're not going to win the cup! haha

Mr. 7 -  I think the season would be a success if the Wild would just play there game and quit playing the defensive crap , also for Warped - that so-call chic behind the WILD bench is Mike Ramseys WIFE and children and friend's -  as for the wild in the playoff's... like ive said before there style of play is 1 and done.. sorry but it's time to come the facts and playing defense 2 1/2 periods out of 3 will not get you to the cup.

I'm new to the message board, but not the Wild. I agree with  7.  I have been more than just an average fan.  I bet between going to game, watching on tv, and listening on nhl.com, I have caught 90% of the games since inauguration, which I was at that very first game. I was so disappointed 2 weeks ago when we just seem to not skate that hard. Who do we want to blame for that. J_L of course.  I know it's not just me that sees the difference in our team when we skate  real hard and when we seem to be in a comfort defensive mode. Skoula gives up the puck, turnover in the zone, Backstrom gives up the late goal. I think with the people we have, still a low budget market team. I would be greatly satisfied with a division title knowing that we will put 4 teams in the playoffs. I honestly don't think we have what it takes to get a cup, but we are getting close. Enjoy the division banner. The Wild deserve it,

GO WILD

I would be exceptionally thrilled if they just made the playoffs  there are some good teams that will be golfing when the Wild are still playing  after tonights debacle against calgary
you wonder if they will make it    after Demitra got absolutely crushed in the first period he was a non  factor the whole game  and gaborik   had a miserable game    we cant do that and do well in the playoffs    the sad thing  not a person laid a hand on inglina

2nd Round of the playoffs.  The Division is nice, and its nice to hang a banner in the rafters, but making some noise in the playoffs is what I want to see.  There were a lot of high expectations for the Wild this season.  It is a tough division, but in the end the divisi0n winner doesn't matter, it is the playoff standings that really count.  This team has the talent to shoot for the cup....so they better hold their own this year in the playoffs.

Well, I'll be damned -- there is intelligent life in the spooly universe!  The Grays will be dropping by to abduct ya any time now:)

That's gotta be the first post where ya show some actual hockey knowledge of your own instead of saying how little everyone else knows about the sport.  I've gotta agree with ya that J-L needs to get off the defensive shell thing if he wants the Wild to go more than one round in the playoffs.  Great post, man; tell your dad to keep up the good writing.

If they end up drawing Calgary in the first round, they're sunk, no matter if it's the 3 or 6 seed. The best hope is for Edmonton or Nashville to sneak into the six spot. Those are the only two teams I feel confident for the Wild to beat in the first round. Anything after that is gravy.

If they play their last five games like last night they might be playing Detroit or SJ, witch means they will only play 4 post season games.
