The Red Sox have preached 'team first' since Theo got there so this does not surprise me at all. I think most teams would have done what they did. Before all you haters get all riled up....I heard the A's were about to announce that they were going to boycott the games as well. So it's

Also, haters, the coaches and the clubhouse staff do not make 'millions'. Yes the players do make millions, obviously, but if MLB promised everyone on the team 40k to make the trip doesn't it make sense that the players would stand up for the coaches and the clubhouse staff??

sorry for all the threads..don't know what happened....

meant to add for the haters sake......it's not just a Red Sox issue. They did the right thing and I would say that if it was the Yankess or the Rockies or any other team.

SeanAvery3......nice clue, dude!! FYI....The players were already getting their money!

The reason they threatened to strike was because the coaches and the staff weren't getting the money they were promised because the company promoting the game gave less money this year than in past years. So the 'money pool' payout was less so MLB cut their traveling stipend, so to speak, to players only. This would have happened no matter who was playing. In the end, the Red Sox ownership put up the 600K and MLB will reimburse them about half. The Oakland A's organization and ownership did the same thing, I believe.

You need to get your facts straight or just not post at all!

The Red Sox and A's management, ownership, coaches and players did the right thing.
