He got out of the draft last year because he didn't perform well in the draft camps and this year i doubt he'll do any better...he'd be best to at least stay one more year but maybe thats just personal bias because im goin to marquette next year and really wanna watch him play for the golden eagles next season..but yea i can't wait for his decision

I hope he leaves, the team is better without him. Mathews can play the point, with Acker and Cubillan as backups getting lots of minutes when Mathews has to switch to the 3 spot. James will never make it in pro ball period... unless he learns how to shoot.

In my opinion he shouldn't even be a first round pick if he declares for the draft. His stats are the same or worse than last year and since freshman year he has gone down in almost every stat. Why would an NBA team want a player who has the prospect of getting worse each season?
On the flip side I don't even know if I want him to come back next year. He was the reason we lost to Pitt in the BE tourney and Stanford in the NCAA tourney. He shot 3-16 against Pitt and 4-16 against Stanford. What the hell? That's just awful.
Granted he had 10 assists in the Stanford game, which is the one reason why I would want to keep him. He is our main distributor.
Tom Crean has just been letting James do as he pleases. Crean needs to man up and tell James that he either has to improve his shot tremendously over the summer or look to pass first, drive second, but DO NOT shoot three pointers. If James doesn't want to listen he should just leave because he will only hurt our team.

Anyone who thinks that Marquette would be better without James it out of their mind. Do you really think Acker can play half as good as James. I don't. Acker is decent and he had his moments where he looked good, but c'mon people.
James can take it to the hoop on almost anybody. His FG% is slightly better this year, and his 3PT% is way up this year compared to last. He has a pretty good A/TO ratio. There's no way that Acker can come in and score like James, and without any bigmen we need guards that can score.
Tyshawn Taylor is coming in next year but from when I watched him, he's not ready to be the primary ball handler.
Agreed, there are things that James needs to work on, ie. shooting, but he is an essential part of our team, and is necessary if Marquette is going to make a push in the Madness next year.

My big thing against James is that it looks like he is just doing whatever he feels like doing. He jacks up all those threes which he never makes in big games.
I'd love it if he stayed and focused on driving to the hoop and dishing, that's what he's good at, has been all year. He's got one of the quickest steps in the country. I guess he just doesn't wanna play to his strengths or something.

Marq28 makes some good points related to my earlier post, but my belief is that with either Mathews, Acker, or Cubillan at point, their primary goal would be to distribute, and they're all better shooters than James as well. (OK, Cubillan is streaky, but he has other good traits, like tough D) So, I'd rather have one of those guys shooting 5-9 with 7 assists than have James shoot 4-16 with 5 assists... it's more points on the board!
MUBlue is also right, James seems to do whatever he pleases, and that's Creans fault, not James's fault. My biggest problem with James is that he doesn't play good D. It was pointed out by the TV commentators against Stanford that if he was playing tighter on the entry passer, it's more difficult for "the twins" to get the ball in good position on the post... but he continually sagged off the ball.
Another point, I've lived overseas many years and watched pro basketball in China, Philippines, UK, Australia, Indonesia and France. Many of these teams are led by 5'10" American point guards making (tops) $50k/year. The difference between these guys and DJames? These guys can all shoot... that's why they're on the team. My point? DJames isn't even good enough to make a 2nd rate pro team overseas.
My advice to James: Forget about the NBA this summer, spend 5 hours a day in a gym with a guy like Steve Alford learning how to shoot, and come back for a final year of hoops, but also to get your degree... you're going to need it!
