I still see his name come up and it truly bothers me how he has been shamed by Cubs fans.  Whats funny is he was 1 of 3 cubs fans reaching out to grab that ball.  He has become shamed because he happened to have better ability than the other fans that were trying to do the same thing he did.  Does anyone realize how sad this is, how a city has turned on an individual to the point he will not show his face.  When 99% of you would have made the same attempt in catching the ball as he did.  Yet years have gone by and we still hear this outcry about Bartman in the media and messageboards.  To be honest this is just sickening that people can be this low, to blame the teams misfortunes on this, heck, maybe yo should have fielded a ground ball hit in play directly at the shorstop.  Shame on all of you who still blame Bartman to this day.  Open your eyes and see how miniscule this was and how sad it is that you still blame this kid.

I not sure where you are reading this. Bartman is a non issue Alex Gonzalez is the reason we lost that game. The only reason that he is still talked about is fan like you from other teams. Now you opens your eyes and shut up!

That one really came out of the blue, who is talking about Bartman?  Any true Cubs fan knows it was Alex Gonzalez that cost us that game, kicking a routine double play grounder.  Bartman became a scapegoat in the media( with a little help from Moises Alou temper tantrum)    I never blamed Bartman and I dont think most Cubs fans did either.  He has the media to blame for his problems.  Why even bring him up again, that happened 5 years ago.

I haven't heard Bartman's name in a long time.

Anyway, he wasn't fully to blame, just like Alex Gonzalez wasn't fully to blame for the Cubs losing that series.

I put about 3-5% of the blame on Bartman - so really, he wan't to blame at all.  They were up 3 games to 1 and only had to win one of three games, two of which were at home.  After the Bartman play, they were still up 3-0 with one out and a guy on 2nd in the top of the 8th  inning.

Cannedbeetz is dead right.  Gonzalez botched an easy double play that would have ended that inning and likely sent us to the world series.  Bartman is welcome to my house for dinner.

It's not his fault we lost the series, but I am a Cubs fan and I would not have reached for that ball.  It's common sense to not interfere if your team has a possible play.

Surgeon, man the only fans you hear bringing up bartman are fans of other teams and occasionally on TV. You seem to not be a Cubs fan (i may be wrong) and you're bringing it up. Not us. As far as him having better ability than the other people, thats a new one! Maybe it was that he had a better seat, hm? Simply echoing what has already been said here, no Cubs fans blame Bartman. Maybe YOU should open your eyes because you're just wrong.

Bullcrap. You see a foul ball coming your way, you don't think, you react.

no Cubs fans blame Bartman.

He received death threats. My guess is that those were coming from Cubs fans who blamed him.
