If we can start making our foul shots I believe we can beat anyone. If we do that I might just agree with Coach Knights'  prediction of going all the way.

As long as they play consistant (like the BE tourney), they will do well. If they play like they did at WVU, then they will be in trouble. I hope the refs let them play, it will be to Pitt's advantage.

I hope they take it one game at a time and show up like they did in the BE tourney which I think they will. The leadership of LaVance has been nothing short of phenomenal.  He and Dixon along with Ramon and Blair's intensity I have confidence in getting this team focused and ready for the real thing. If we come out strong from the start I think we have a real shot to make it deep in the tourney. So commentators think Pitt is the flavor of the minute but they obviously didn't see our play in the BE tourney. We outplayed every single one of those teams with heart, determination and excellent play making and it was a joy to watch when its usually rather scary.

I think we can go all the way this year if we can keep Blair on the floor. He has been one of our key players all year long. It seemed like every game we lost he sat 14 minutes in the first half because of foul trouble. When he is in the game we are one of the premier teams when he is not we lose one of the best post scorers in the country.

I've got us losing to Memphis in the Sweet Sixteen, because I think that's the "money" pick.  I could see us taking them down, though...it should be a heck of a game if it happens.

I do not, however, think we have a snowball's chance of knocking off Texas in Houston if that Elite 8 matchup materializes.  To make a Final 4 run, we'd need someone else to do that part of the job for us.

Call me crazy Pittbaster, but I love that matchup.  Memphis just beats teams to the basket and is not really a strong perimeter shooting team when defended.  With our man to man, we would give them fits.  Believe me when I say, Oral Roberts is the game to worry about.  I think this game will be extremely tough and if the players come in over confident, we wil lose.  They are just as physcial as us, have the edge in height and speed, we just have a adavantage over  them in experience and higher competition.  Do not feel we are dramatically better.

As for the second round Michigan State would be my preference for they are very similar to Oral Roberts and that game would be a great warm up.  Temple is a well balanced team and can beat you many different ways, including the coaching, so watch out.  I feel that Pitt has a road that can be achieved if they continue to play the way they have at least to the Elite 8.  Their matchup there would be either Texas or Standford (who I think will lose) and I do not like the Texas Matchup.  But let us not look too far ahead and jinx our team.  Please just enjoy the ride.  We already earned a new banner for the ceiling at the Pete, wouldn't it be great to get another.

Thursday is going to be great, and I wish I could be out west to see it.

Connect04, I think you are right on. Oral Roberts worries me. They play tough, physical defense like we do, and I can see them hanging around and getting the crowd into the game to root for the underdog and putting themselves in a position where they might be able to pull the game out late, especially if Pitt is having FT issues. I know ORU has FT issues of their own, but when kids start believing and the whole building is pulling for an upset, bad things can happen to top seeds. If we get past that, I do not think either Temple or MSU would have such an underdog advantage. Yes, they're technically lower seeds than us, but they are big-name basketball programs and I think given Pitt's heroic run to the final, I'd even wager we'd be the crowd favorite. Past that, we really would be underdogs and we'd have the support of the crowd against Memphis, although like you said, Texas will be another matter.

I agree that we need to enjoy the ride. No matter what happens Thursday, this team has done something no Pitt team has ever done before, and the adversity they've overcome has been tremendous. I could not be more proud of our guys and I hope they have a deep run in them. If we can get rolling Thursday and avoid that pitfall, I can see us rolling on through the weekend and beyond, but we've gotta take it a game at a time.

You can beat anyone????? HAHAHAHA!!! When are stupid Big Least Pitt fans going to realize that your team is no good. The only tourney that you guys can win is the Maggie Dixon classic, and i have been wondering how Maggie even got a tourney named after her(they are nameing tourney after anyone now days). And by the way the Tournament has already been decided anyway and the champs are the North Carolina Tar Heels.       Period.

Well, you see, someone felt sorry for Maggie because she DIED OF CANCER, chief.  As for "we can beat anyone" well, we can.  We didn't say we WILL beat EVERYONE, but we can get anybody on any given night.

I think 3 wins against top 10 teams is pretty indicative of that.  For the record, I think we'll get by ORU and Mich. St. or Temple, but lose to Memphis.  If we beat them, I think we lose to Texas because it's in Houston.

I'm responding as a Spartan fan.  It should be a heck of a game on Saturday.  I don't watch too many Big East games, so maybe you guys can fill me in on your team.   Here's what you're up against:
Pros:
A well coached team that will play hard all 40 minutes.
A very deep bench full of big men and shooters.
Tough physical defense that fights for every rebound.
We are quick and get a lot of fast break points.
Neitzel has the ability to score 30 and always makes good decisions with the ball.

Cons:
We don't guard the perimeter well and can give up a lot of 3's.
